Tires on lowered B7... how big can i go?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Gonna be ordering wheels tomorrow, going with 18 inch Enkei RPF1’s. Anyone have recommendations for tire width? I want perfect stance and Im a mustang guy so I like a beefy looking rear end with wide tires. Also, my car is lowered on H&R springs. How wide can I go?

Hey there.. I have a 2007 s4 stock suspension replaced new to specs and you cant run any wider than 255 without spacers lowered or stock ride height. Also you cant run anything taller than a 40 on the profile without rubbing. I run 255/40/18 but I do have spacers. I found out the wider tires wouldn't fit without spacers when I tried to put the 255/40 on my stock DTM 18's. hope this helps in some way

I’m hoping to stuff 265 on enkei RPF1 wheels.

Also on h&r springs, running 255/40 with no rubbing. 10mm front and 15mm rear spacers. I need the front spacers to clear my control arms (et52 wheels).

Everything you said is wrong. You should quit spreading misinformation.

Also youre running the wrong height tire for that width.

What's wrong with a 40 series tire on a 255? Maybe people think you are wrong for running a 35 series on a 265 instead of a 30... I would say he is not wrong that running taller than a 40 series would be quite challenging given the OP wants to go wider. I run a 255/40 because the extra sidewall is nice to have for daily use, increases comfort and is more forgiving to the wheels in the event of a pothole.

OP - I don't have any good pictures of my setup and currently still in winter mode. If I find one, I'll post it here.

Its the closest hes gonna get to the factory circumference.

Which should yield him the most clearance from the suspension upright height wise. Without driving on rubber bands.

I wish i had a ET40 offset so i could have some more fender clearance.

    But cheap wheels are cheap.

Fitting a 265 is impressive to me. I feel like my tires are pretty close to the fender liners with a 255 and a final et42. Definitely not as close at they are to the suspension though. I can slide a piece of paper between the tire and the upright, not much more. Ideally, I'd have 12mm spacers.

Also, my wheels are OEM, so not cheap.

I think so, i know of people on here who have put 275s in the back. Operator is one.

But i wanna run a square setup so i can rotate tires.

I might look into fitting 275s in the front. Not sure if thats even possible. Ill have to do some measuring.

I’d still like to hear more opinions if anyone has input on how wide I can go on an 18 inch RPF1, with an offset of 35mm. Can anyone else confirm that I can run a 255/35 without rubbing in the front? Im lowered on H&R sport springs.

I have the same spec wheels. 18x9 et35 and you fit 265/35/18 without rubbing if youre not super low.

I only rub in thd rear on big dips on the highway at like 75mph

18x9 et35 will touch your brake caliper if you have a full brake pad. Trust me on this, I forgot who, but someone also messaged me and said they would rub as well. It is true. Mine are 18x9 enkei RPF1 et35 and now put on a 20mm spacer lol. You only need a 5mm spacer or 3mm. Or shave your brake caliper a bit....

If you are going with 18" wheels, I would personally get 245/40/18 tires. They would be more comfortable.

venom u have no clue bro..
fronts have 18x8.5 et50 with 15mm spacers and 255/40/18 tires
rears have 18x9.5 et55 with 10mm spacers and 255/40/18 tires

I couldn't lower the car without rubbing.. this is the largest setup I could go on stock ride height.
his original question what was the largest setup he could go without changing ride height?
could he fit a 235/35/19 under there? sure. I was just giving him my setup to see if it helped him any.

So im a dick because i literally have 265s on all four corners and they dont rub unless i hit huge dips on the highway.

With tires flush with the fenders. Which is like 2" lower than stock.

    Youre a real winner.

My point has been proven. I run 265s all day with no issues.

You apparently "know" that 255s are the widest tire you can run.

    End rant/

    End discussion/

that's not "no issues" that's actually a pretty big issue.

lol you really think you can just end anything?
let me tell you right now this doesn't end unless I stop adding to it internet cool guy. that's how this thing works, or did you not know?
maybe you should just try rolling whatever pile of crap you currently have into oncoming traffic.. I bet you that would end it both the rant and discussion lol
let me know how it all turns out for you. I will be in Aspen not caring
