TLDR:B8 s4 with blown engine after unitronic+high miles. Looking for options.
Hello. I do not know who checks these forums, but I really hope someone can offer advice.
Lots of information, but I will try to present it logically.
The car is a phantom black b8 2010 s4, with every package I can think of.
I have RSM9 wheels, BBS wheels, and audi 19's for it.
Recently it was tuned with unitronic. I had the confidence to get it done after
replacing the mechatronics unit. I knew that an agressive tune wouldnt be good for a car with 120,000 miles, but the
unit malfuctioned and replacing it was needed.
The tune, unitronic stage 1+ TCU and stage 1 ECU, was great.
Between my lack of catalytic converters, air intake, and AWE Track edition exhaust, I believe the tune did really make the car
much faster and more responsive.
However, about a month after the tune, I had problems. The engine had just been fully serviced, but already was suffering,
partly from one mechanic who worked on it forgetting to, and in two occasions breaking or leaving unplugged the connectors to the coil packs. Those connectors came of while driving, forcing the car into limp mode.
That issue aside, this is where the car dies
I was driving 45mph and the car suddenly bogs. Power ceases and the DSG shifts down until the tach goes seemingly negative, and I could hear no ping or noise, just a stop. The engine seized up, and would not turn at all.
I got it towed to my house, and tried to start it, no dice.
Tried a few other things, then thought to see if i could rotate the crank at all...
Nothing, completely and udderly stuck, as it it was welded together
Well, my only valuable asset was stuck and worthless, so I put all of my cash into getting it ripped apart quick.
With all the wiring harnesses, tubing, etc, out of the bay the engine was taken out along with the dsg. Nothing seemed wrong in the supercharger, the heads, valvetrain, etc. The gore was in the crank case and the oil pan was cringeworthy.
Metal shavings the size of dimes were in my oil pan. It was brutal... The first crankshaft bearing must have seized, spun in its place until it put the crank out of place, and then the crank's weighted side struck and ate into the side of the case. At least... that is what I figure. Regardless, the bottom end of the engine is useless.
And along with it, the vehicle is useless, and torn apart.
So here is why I am posting this:
What should I do?
Is there any way out? Would anyone want a destroyed and expensive to fix pos.... or could I fix it.
I really want it fixed, and I especially wouldnt want to see this amazing machine meet such a terrible fate.
If there is any way I can silver lining this with a new engine or even some crazy swap.... I just need a way to repair this vehicle. In the meantime, I have a mode of transportation... but it isnt anything like the s4.
Thank you for your time.
