    Upgrading amplifier issue/question

So apparently water dripping down on the amplifier in a 2008 s5 B&O sound system is a common issue. The PO of this car said his amplifier was having issues when it rained but he said the sound always ended up coming back when the rain stopped. This week, it rained for the first time since I've owned it and I was greeted with a creepy buzzing coming from one of the speakers whether the car was turned on or off. I found the culprit of the leak but also took the amp apart, dried it off, plugged it back in and it works... but it doesn't work like it used to.

Is there an easy way to upgrade the stock amp to something with a little more punch? I don't listen to crazy bass music but a little more definitely wouldn't hurt.

I dont' know, but I can tell you that Audi makes a part that clips onto the little door inside the trunk that is intended to shield the amp from water. Lots of guys had an issue when getting window tint installed, due to the installers soaking the hell out of the rear window and getting water dripping down on the amp. No matter what amp you get, I'd want to make sure that water doesn't get to it. What was leaking on your car? The little rubber grommet for the trunk lid? There's one right above the amp location.

Yeah it was the stopper for the trunk lid. The amp was soaked. I'm surprised the thing still works. I made sure no water would be getting in there ever again.

I'm going to take it to a audio shop to see if they've done something like this before. I just want an amp. no subs or speaker replacements.

Mobridge is the cleanest way I know that will allow you to keep the MMI functions, and remove the audi factory amp. It's not cheap. http://www.mobridge.us

Another option would be to put something like an audio control LC7i and run all the signals coming out of the factory amp into it, then add an amp. You may still want to add a DSP but not necessary to get sound, but necessary for a better sound. But if your amp has issues, this may be a problem. http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audi...-upgrade/lc7i/

    Good luck.
