Whats next APR stage 2 or tcu tune or both?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 14 S5 which I just had a stage 1 done. Really love the tune brought the car to life and now im thinking what else can should I do.

One thing i still not thrilled with is sometimes i think it should of down shifted and it doesn’t. Seems to like the higher gear. Not even sure TCU tine would fox this

So what are opinions should I do a TCU tune next or stage 2 single pulley next. Install place recommended the TCU.

I would consider getting both done but wanted to hear opinions and thoughts on this.
It is daily driver in summer so want to keep drivability

    Thanks for feedback

I am running a DP tune on my SQ5 and since a TCU tune isn’t offered I was extremely happy when I went to a single pulley tune and finally the DP tune. I vote for the Stage 2 tune.

Not sure if you have a manual or auto' tranny.
If you have an auto', you need TCU tune now.
If you go to stage 2, then you definitely need the TCU tune.
Read APR's website for all the info'.

You won't see/feel much difference with the TCU tune, but it will protect the transmission from the extra power.
    It shifts a bit quicker.
You'll feel a difference with the Stage 2 - whichever pullet you go for.
If you're going stage 2, U suggest you consider both pulleys, and while the front clip is off, install the larger cooler too.

On the B8.5s the TCU tune makes a big difference... more so then the B8s. I have a stage 2 with TCU (GIAC). I say well worth it.

Ok thanks Will definitely do TCU tune and considering stage 2 single pulley only because I dont want to get into adding cooling.

Same here....went with GIAC stage 2 with TCU and upgrade of supercharger pulley. Makes a big difference.

I went straight from stock to Stage 2+ Ultracharger, TCU tune and the APR CPS cooler. If you go stage 2, I would recommend getting the cooler.

Ran with stock cooling, since I’m only single pulley.. If you go dual (crank and pulley) then run cooling system.

Cooler plugs? As in spark plugs...?

I have the ultracharger which requires a specific iridium plug.

Yea I had read a few places people saying if you go stage two dual pulley you should run cooler spark plugs but never said what.

Ive gotten mixed answers on if i need to do a heat exchanger on dual pulleys. My shop that did stage 1 and tcu tune says I only need to do cooling if I go with an Ultracharger. Or if i plan to bring it to the track and do repeated runs.

Still going back and forth between single and dual pulley. Its frustrating lol

Its more a daily driver wont be racing it

Ultracharger the CPS is required. Stage 2, for daily driving you will not need it. Just go dual pulley so you're ready for Ultra down the road should you wish. Why go half assed, bite the bullet now and just go stage 2 dual.

I ended getting the TCU tune and really I think that’s a must have now at any stage. It really makes a difference not a lot In D ( which is perfect )but in S and M its a lot of fun

I do have an apt for stage 2 single pulley this Thur. Going to go with single pulley and new plugs.

I talked to APR and they said single pulley no cooling needed but for dual I should have cooling installed. They also recommended I change my plugs out for BKR9EIX gapped @24 for stage 2 single pulley or dual
