Want To Replace A6 Rear Diffuser with S6 Diffuser ?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have used the Forum Search and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. I want to replace my A6 rear diffuser valance with a S6. I also want to find just the rear dual tip exhaust for a S6 or aftermarket exhaust. Hopefully I'm using the correct terminology for the parts I want to replace. I like the look of the dual tip exhaust compared to the A6 single tip exhaust. Maybe later in the future I may change the entire exhaust system. Please post any pictures, instructions or advise to achieve this look. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Buy the diffuser then take it to a muffler shop and tell them you want quad tips to align with the new diffuser.

S6 exhaust won't fit an A6 without the shop basically rebuilding it anyway so don't waste your time looking for one.

Someone posted something just like you wanted with tips like this that fit perfectly in the S6 diffuser. You will have to search for that thread. Or it could be at the other Audi forum.

I found this...would this work? Can I cut the rear dual tip muffler and weld it the the A6 exhaust? I will not use the tips that come with the diffuser.

This is my A7 (now sold). I fitted the AWE Quad Tip exhaust system, and changed the valence to the S7 one. I also carbon wrapped the valence as it was a bit boring

You can do the same thing to the A6 using the S6 valence. The AWE Quad for A6 or A7 are very similar.

That's exactly what I want to do. Now I have to find the parts that will fit correctly.

I recently performed this conversion and wrote down my thoughts below for those looking to do the same. (Note - this is for C7.5)

So I've been wanting to replace my stock diffuser with an S or RS option since I bought the car. Unfortunately, all the RS options I found were not going to fit without extensive modification. So I figured an S6 diffuser would be the path of least resistance. I found various different options, but I really wanted the diffuser in gloss black (unlike the matte black OEM) to match my gloss black optics trim pieces. I found the perfect diffuser on Aliexpress (links below). This diffuser has nuanced differences, such as more "aggressive" fins, which I love. I also bought a dual exhaust tip set that slips in just like the stock non-S tips.

Diffuser fitment was perfect. Seriously, not a single hiccup. The driver's side exhaust tips went in without issues, but the passenger side did not and took some work to get it right (and it arrived with a loose tip that I took to a welder to re-attach). Overall, I'm incredibly happy with how it turned out. Huge improvement over the boring stock diffuser.

Here are some comparison photos between this diffuser and OEM. Note the fins and the obvious finish difference.

Looks amazing Jonny, seems like a super straightforward swap. Glad you posted because there aren't as many pictures of this mod on a C7.5!

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to make sure I provided some references because I'm sure I'm not the only who's thought of doing this swap!

Those look fantastic. I wasn't even thinking AlliExpress because I didn't know how the fitment would be. Is your car an S-Line? It looks like that might make finding something for my C7 harder.

Yep, S-line. I'm pretty sure I've seen some options for non-S on AliExpress and eBay.

Some more photos (with a clean car this time!).

That looks great, think I'll go this route. What colour is that? Looks awesome, I thought it was just black in the prior pics.

Do you have another link for the diffuser? I can’t get that one to work.

    Link worked for me.

Did you pay $500+ for it? It's $300 + $227 for shipping. I like the diffuser more than the MD one but can't justify the almost $300 cost increase.

StoneCarbon2009 now stocks this rear diffuser for much less than AliExpress. The tips pictured are not the same as what Johnny has, but those can be sourced from AliExpress.

I replaced mine on my A6 sline, with an OEM S6 diffuser purchased from a member. Fake AliExpress Akrapovic quad tips on my 3.0t Magnaflow exhaust. Pretty simple and inexpensive project all in all. Paid around $175 for the diffuser shipped to me. $188 for the tips shipped. Had my Indy do the work for around $200. Please excuse the filthy car pic.

That's a pretty good deal. Just FYI, you will most likely need to do some cutting and possibly welding with those tips since our muffler tips are pinched almost immediately after the muffler.
