Sooo I took off the aero cover underneath for the first time for a DIY oil change, and found some pretty disturbing scene:

The car has gone through 5 Michigan winters, and it's always been maintained by the dealer, it looks pretty bad to me and I wonder anyone has a similar issues? And I wonder if Audi will ever honor their rust warranty?

    Thanks a bunch~

They should honor their warranty. Something to check out. You are original owner no wrecks?

Yes I am the original owner, the car is a 2012 model purchased in 12 as new~ it had a small rear end collision a year ago but that only damaged the rear bumper cover.

Should be good to inquire. Can't tell by photos if that is surface rust or was there perforation. Lots of forum information if you Google the subject. Some are not too encouraging.

Wow - I just got rid of a 10 year old BMW (live near Chicago) and it wasn't that rusted. Is that surface only or does it seem to be perforating the metal. Talking with your dealer won't take too much time; definitely worth the effort.

Most rust warranties are pure BS. It usually states it's for perforation only. This means it has to rust all the way thru to create a hole. No way of this happening in 7 or so years the warranty it's good for.
I had a car from different brand that at just 3 years old started bubbling under factory paint. Took it to a dealer and was told about perforation provision. Did some research afterwards and found that it's pretty much industry standard.
Oh, and in case it would actually rust all the way thru in warranty's time, they would deny it for rust being effect of environmental conditions as they were at first claiming that in my case. It's catch 22.
