AWE-Tuning Resonated Touring Exhaust installed. First impressions and pics!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Picked up the car the other day from AWE Tuning and got to drive it 85 miles home. All I can say is: WOW amazing stuff! It makes all the right sounds and really is incredible. I was given the option to go with either a resonated touring or non-resonated touring version. Since I have a baby on the way, I opted for the resonated version. It is subtle, but noticeable. It's loud but not obnoxious. There is zero drone at all speeds between zero and 80 mph (the most I was able to go yesterday). It adds a sort of exotic sound to the exhaust and really comes alive under full throttle. The guys at AWE were really awesome also. They did a great job. I wouldn't have left my car with any other company for a month of driving and testing. I know they made videos and took photos and I was told they should be available within a few weeks so keep a lookout for them. If I didn't have a kid on the way I would've probably gone with the non-resonated version. But for now, I will just keep smiling at each and every cold start-up! Let me know if you guys have any questions! Below are a couple of pictures from different angles after washing the car this afternoon:

If you enjoy the sound now, wait for 2 or 3 weeks of driving, when the carbon builds up and really adds some bass to your note.
AWE’s stuff is fantastic in every way.

    Enjoy it.

I've always associated turn downs with American pickup trucks and find it hard to accept on an Audi but I guess there aren't any other options on the new Q; as long as you are happy!

Is there any sound clips at all on the 2018 platform?

Shocked to see the pipes peaking out, but it's honestly pretty cool looking! And the logo is a nice touch. If they really bothered someone, you could easily chop the tips off, or simply black them out.

TBH i think it makes it actually look real again. I dig the fact that you can see a steel pipe under the plastic facade.

Thanks! I personally am torn on how I feel about the looks. Honestly I think I like how the tips look and then sometimes I doubt myself.

I know AWE took videos of both versions of the exhaust on my car so they should be up pretty soon online!

Agreed! If over time I don't like how they look they can be cut down. I really dig the logo though. It's such a cool but subtle touch!!

I believe you are correct. Maybe Josh from AWE can confirm though.

Can you take pictures from a normal viewing height? I'm sure at eye level the pipes aren't visible/poking out from the rear bumper.

Fully erect 😁 and only say 15-20 feet or less behind the vehicle would be the only time you'd not see them I think. I imagine the top of AWE logo was placed right about where visibility is cut in most situations. Approaching or behind in another vehicle... I'd say you can easily see them.

    This isn't too far off...

Those pipings looks nice! I was wishing that they could have exited where those fake exhaust covers... Or could have done a rear bumper side exits.

I can't wait for the sound clips....

Yeah I was looking at that one, but the driveway seems to be sloping down so I was just curious if it might have given a little bit of the pipe (i.e. just the tip ).

Not going to even doubt the sound quality of AWE, but the visible turn down tips mess with the clean rear end to me. Like people mentioned above, nothing paint or an exhaust shop can't fix.

Sure thing fellas! I can definitely snap a few pics from normal viewing height. It is a bit skewed since the driveway slopes down. I parked it there specifically to give you guys a better view underneath. I can take some pics as soon as I get back from work. And I know I know... videos too!!

Here are a couple of photos from eye-level at different distances for everyone's reference. For me, the point where the tips were no longer visible was about 5-6 feet away from the rear of the car. Please excuse my super narrow driveway :)

I think it's pretty cool. Ballsy, and it worked out IMO. I'd personally want glossy black tips/pipes though.
