    Lowering B9 S4

Hey! I’ve been browsing the forum but haven’t posted. I just got out of a 2014 RS5 and took delivery of my B9 S4 with Sport package and Dynamic steering. So far I love it!! However, I can’t stand the ride height. I’ve been reading a lot about HAS springs but would love to hear thoughts on standard linear lowering springs. H&R, 034 Dynamic+, eMMotion. I’m not looking for a drastic drop, just a bit lower and want to maintain ride quality.
I live in NJ, so roads are shit.

    Any suggestions, thoughts, experience?

Congrats! What part of nj? I was supposed to get that combo but ended up getting a different color. I’m installing my Emmanuel design springs and spacers next Friday so I’ll let you know how it rides and share some pics.

I’m looking forward to hearing the feedback as well. I was leaning towards HAS but due to the harsh MN winters will likely never be able to adjust after year one. However I want the ability to creat a little bit of rake. Non adjustable springs have a much more appealing price as well but would pay more not to compromise ride quality.

I have the same color with black optics and sports packages as well.

I also would like a slightly lowered stance so I ordered the EMD springs. I also ordered their rear and rear sway bar. I have an appointment on Firday to get them installed. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm in Western NY so crappy roads and winter snow plus I don't plan to track this car so a close to stock ride were my priorities.

I have 10 mm spacers on order but they won't be in until next week.

I have similar spec on my B9, I ordered the KW HAS but have not had a chance yet to get them installed. Also in NJ, but not worried about the roads I have had much lower cars than what you can get with just springs.

Our lowering springs are a great option for those looking to reduce the wheel gap, while maintaining the factory ride quality. One aspect that customers welcome with our lowering springs is that your driving habits do not need to be altered. You can still approach dips, pot holes, etc. in the same manner as you would with the stock suspension. For those with poor roads, this is a welcome change from typical lowering options that have you wincing every time you see the slightest road imperfection ahead.

The linear design ensures that our springs not only pair well with the factory shocks, but also without adding noises that are common from progressive springs with dead coils. Further, each set is zinc primered and finished in a gloss black finish, maintaining an unmodified appearance so as not to draw unnecessary attention.

Very nice! I am also located in Bergen county and mystique is lowered on H&R springs. No complaints about the way it drives at all. Low enough to close the gap and doesnt make the ride harsh but just stiff enough to feel the difference in driving characteristics

Not bad at all brother, I put on hakkapeliitta 8 winter tires on there and it was the best investment I ever made. That 2 footer we got was like it never snowed, Love them!

I have the KW HAS and love it. The ride is slightly rougher than stock, but that was to be expected. The only regret I have is i wish the back could go lower. I have a few turns up front.

That set up looks great.. Where did you find that grill? Does the B8,B8.5 grill fit the B9?

Thanks! Grill is from EMD Auto. He's the only one that has a RS style grill for the B9 S4 with a front camera mount. Fitment was spot on!

Thanks Mops! I definitely have some research to do! I totally understand that some ride quality will be sacrificed and don’t want to go too low. So HAS might be a good option. Although I don’t really NEED to adjust. So many options...

Certainly! And note, ABT and KW worked together to create the B9 HAS kits. KW tuned their springs to be a bit sportier/firmer, while ABT veered more towards comfort. With the S-Sport pack, the ABT are PLENTY firm in Dynamic, while quite good in Comfort too. I'm very pleased. I also have the KW HAS on my SQ. You really cannot go wrong.

There are other threads on the RS style grile, but.............Not correct. 'bk-motorsport.com' has them. I understand that they are made in Germany, but bought one on Fleabay (freight from US too horrendous!!) that looked s-o-o similiar.

Also B8,B8.5 grille does not fit the B9.

Not to thread hijack but when putting on springs (non-adjustable)/spacers when should the alignment be done? I’m thinking about getting alignment after putting somewhere between 100-200 miles on the new suspension setup.

~250 miles is my rule. Some will align right away, and if your shop allows you to come back for a no charge follow-up, that is fine.

For spacers only - No align needed.

Any idea how the H&R HAS kit compares to ABT and KW? I noticed they claim up to -1.8" drop, I wouldn't go that low but I'm wondering if that would require a stiffer spring.

Installed the emd springs and ecs tuning spacers 10 mm all around this past Friday. The car sits so much better now without that wheel gap! It’s a little bumpier now but doesn’t ruin the ride quality.

I had the EMD springs installed (along with the rear sway bar) on Friday. I also ordered the ESC 10 mm spacers but they haven't shipped yet. I wasn't looking for slammed but rather how the car should have looked and felt from the factory. I agree with the comments above about the ride. Other than color my set up looks the same as S4audi15.

this drop is dope, maybe even a tad too low for me though. it's on h&r coilovers, they claim up to -1.4", this is probably all the way down. I have a set of H&R VTF's in my stockpile, they claim up to -1.6". I thought I might put them all the way down, but after seeing these shots, I'm doubting that now.

I’m currently looking for options as well. I daily drive and I also track the car in the summers so looking for suggestions for springs as well.
