    Windshield wiper resting/parked position adjustment

So a few inches of snow dumped last night and I thought that I could just tap the button and it would dump all the snow overboard like my BMW. God I love me E36. Apparently the Audi system is much less robust. It seems my unit skipped a tooth or two because it does eventually return back to the correct resting position about halfway through its stroke. I've read dozens of threads and none of them seem to have pictures working anymore. Can somebody vaguely describe the position of the bolt that I need to loosen to adjust the resting position? I know the procedure, just not where the bolt is located. I'll document it when I get the job done. Thanks everyone.

First, regardless of what car you have, you should never use the wipers to clear more than a dusting of snow, especially if it's heavy snow. In the minute it would take to brush it off, you could save yourself a lot of hassle and potentially hundreds in repairs. To me, it's just not worth it given how little effort it takes to do so by hand.

That being said, the nut on the wiper transmission that connects to the two arms is under the lower windshield cowl by the ECU box. If you have a stubby wrench set, you can probably loosen and adjust them without taking off the wipers and cowl, but it is a tight spot.

Don't feel too bad, I have done this more than once. In 2014 I had my b6 parked all winter and we got a lot of snow in Maryland. I decided to take the Audi out for a snowy drive to run errands and didn't realize the snow was soft atop but ice below. Turn wipers on, feel the motor run but nothing happening. It's a simple adjustment thankfully.

I just readjusted my positioning while changing my windshield cowl today and reminded me of trying to move 3" of snow sitting on my car with my wipers. Oops! First time I used an opened ended wrench but forget the size. I didn't remove the cowl to adjust.
