Post Odometer reads L3 4-5 and no milage reading... Anyone ever see this before?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my odometer doesn't read milage. It reads a code: L3 4-5
I can't find any way to reset this and fix it. Had to make up a milage when getting inspected. Now the problem is getting a little annoying. .

Anyone have any experience with this?

Personally only saw something similar to that when installing an RS4 cluster into my car, prior to it being cloned from my factory cluster.

Did you swap in a color cluster? I see your date says 2004 and the airbag light is on.

Sweet mileage. L3 4-5 seems like pretty low miles

The cluster was functioning perfect for years.
There was a motor swap and I don't know if this began when that happened. Only noticed when inspected and couldn't click anything to pull it up. I had no idea this was just supposed to read the milage and never change. This L3 business is bizarre

The date reset because I disconnected the battery while working on the engine bay and the airbag light is due to the s4 interior swap with the passenger seat guts were not swapped and that is a project in itself. .

Was the ECU replaced when the motor was swapped? If it's necessary to clone a new cluster (so it is recognized by the ECU) when installing it, wouldn't the reverse also be true? Meaning, if the ECU was replaced, it might need to be coded to recognize the existing cluster. Just thinking out loud....

That is a good question ...

I didn't think my ECU was changed because it is APR tuned and would have had to have been swapped and I'm pretty sure the motor assembly was swapped but not the computer. the gauges were working fine before and still do. This seems to me like a coding issue honestly. I bet a dealership would know...

It is not easy finding any information about this on the web.

From what I've found the issue is usually related to key programming which I had done and I am not 100% sure if this started then but it very well could have. No one else has touched the car.

If it was the key guy he will be getting a call! Not tackling this issue alone when someone else has caused it.

The dealership might be your best bet.

    Be* : )

I would also suggest you go to the dealership or ask Audi of America here on the forums.

I am also wondering if this was resolved as I just bought a B7 DTM S4 that has the same issue. Does not really affect anything but is definitely bugging me!
