2.0T Oil Pumps with (Clipped Balance Shafts)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Yes, that is NOT a typo. I have two oil pump assemblies with clipped balance shafts available. Both turn very easily, have zero wobble/are very tight, and are ready to drop in without any additional work. I was planning on using these in my race car and daily, but I already have clipped shafts in the race engine (which will be receiving a dry sump oil system) and that pump can go into my daily when all is said and done. So, I have two spares sitting on the shelf.

Don't take them as sitting on the shelf as spares, as me needing to blow them out. They don't owe me anything, and the space they take up isn't going to kill me. I am more than happy to hang onto these until someone inevitably ruins an oil pump/rebuilds properly/wants to rev past 8k, and sell them at that point. If you're in any of the above situations and want an oil pump that doesn't cost $1695.15 from ECS (and still have to clip gears), let me know and I'll take care of you.

Looking for $300USD per pump, plus shipping from the Toronto area, and PayPal's 3% fees (unless family/friends). Local pick-up is also available.

Balance shaft without clipped oil pump gear.

    Clipped oil pump gear.

    Side by side.

What is eventually replacing my other oil pump in the race car.

And the pump without the clipped gear, I might just remove the entire balance shaft assembly. Nothing wrong with losing 15lbs or so.

Might be a dumb question. But why not remove the entire balance shaft assemble to free up all of that weight/rotating mass?

Cause the oil needs to be sucked up into you engine. If you just remove the entire assembly you’ll require the Uber expensive dry sump parts or the 1.8T oil pump conversion to ensure your motor get oil into it. I believe James will lose about 26 lbs pulling the assembly off the motor which could result in lowering the engine with a custom oil pan. Depending on the weight of all the parts for dry sump, the weight loss could be very impressive.

The shafts no longer rotate once you clip the gear. They can be removed from the housing at that point but it's not an easy task.

    This.

And CanadianAB7 is correct as well. The oil pump will remove about 20lbs. And the dry sump setup will create vacuum, which should help with blow by and any oil consumption issues.

You’re welcome. And yes, that second gear set won’t turn in less the first two gears are connected. Everything runs off of the oil pump gear.

I am interested but I’ve got a few things I’m eyeballing. Plus, I don’t completely understand if it’s plug and play, if I have to remove the engine to install, blah, blah...

It’s not exactly plug and play, but can be done with the engine in. You’ll need to remove the oil pan (which requires dropping the subframe) to get to the pump. Essentially, you’ll want to follow this DIY.

    Cheers!
