    Rear door headaches

Rear drivers side door is acting weird. The door will not lock at all. I can roll the window up / down from the controls on that door but not the drivers controls. VAG is saying that it can't talk to that door controller. Okay, swapped it for another controller and same problem. I took apart the wire loom at the door hinge and all the wires inside look fine with no damage to the sheathing.

Where / how else do these commonly fail?

Do you mean you replaced lock actuator when you said controller? Did you buy a new one ?
My driver side rear door is not always locking/unlocking and the actuators are known to fail and best bet is to replace with nee

No, I replaced the door controller. It's the black box that the wires go to right behind the door panel. It's what VAG can't "talk" to across the bus. The doorlock actuator wouldn't prevent the drivers door switches from operating the window.

Sounds like two problems...lock and the windows. Are you sure you coded everything correct and the replacement controller was the right part?

For the door lock, I had success with taking the actuator out and cleaning the little motor inside. Locking returned to normal after that.

I keep getting replies about lock actuators so I must not be explaining this correctly or I am seriously misunderstanding something. The car is unable to talk to the controller in the rear drivers door. I have replaced that controller and VAG still reports that it can't talk to the door controller. Regardless of anything with lock actuators VAG should be able to talk to that door controller just like it talks to the other three.

Since I've replaced the controller and inspected the wiring on that door where ELSE can it be broken?

I'm working with the computer that is literally in every door on the car, this - https://www.wolfautoparts.com/2009-2...le-215991.html

If they recall correctly the rear door module is a slave of the front door module. This would point toward the front door module being defective. If you replaced the rear door module and have everything coded correctly then the next place I would check is the front door module. This would also explain why the drivers controls don’t work but the rears work. Just a thought.

Post the vagcom scan, perhaps that will help with a diagnosis.

I see what you are saying about the modules. They are different and from what I understand need to be exact to your model year when replacing them. Also, check out audienthusiasts.com. he has a section in there about door module replacement.
