This is really funny (from the Audi marketing machine):

    Performance and Peace of Mind

To say we consider each and every detail, both when we build your Audi and when we give it our Certified stamp of approval, is hardly an exaggeration. We're Audi. Ours is a history of details. Some large, some small. But all of them, quite important.

There's no better illustration of our attention to detail than our 300+ Point Inspection process. No other manufacturer puts its Certified pre-owned cars through a tougher, or more encompassing, examination-an examination every Audi has to ace in order to qualify as Certified pre-owned.

    Hehe, I like the hashtag.

They checked the 300+ boxes anyway... Just doesn't mean it's necessarily done right, though, and I guess that's the customer's problem.

The only thing Audi checks in the 300 boxes is your credit for approval, once they see you have good credit they go an check the other 299..

I'm waiting on getting some legal advice before I say anything about the dealer in question. Sorry to hear that Audi Denver has a bad reputation though... I'm past the Audi Care that came with the car now, so maybe I should look at an independent shop. I think I've heard that there's a good one in Parker.

I thought about cross-posting, but I'm more of a lurker in general, and wasn't sure of the etiquette on that. I also have roughly 0 social media following, so that probably wouldn't do much. ;)
If you do keep it, Hardey's Motorwerks is probably the indy shop in Parker you were referring to. I've heard a lot of good things about them. Bluewater Performance and Berg Performance as well in Denver.
I honestly can't believe the lack of response from Audi on this. IF I look at a CPO Audi in the future, I'll definitely request proof (watch them do it) of them scanning for TD1 flag...and try to get something in writing proving such. Definitely wouldn't have thought to do so before this though. Best of luck to you.

I still think this is pretty significant, especially for a fairly new vehicle. While I didnít know it until well after the fact, even my original warranty was void on the main drivetrain about 2 years before it was supposed to be, nevermind the CPO warranty.

    add me to the list.
14 months ago I flew to Quebec and bought a 2015 CPO S4. 2 months into ownership, I randomly called Audi of Canada to see if I can get service records for the vehicle. I spit out the vin # and the lady on the phone says "uh Oh"........
your car is flagged TD1. how can that be, it was flagged 2 weeks before I bought it and CPO was done 1 week before I bought.
this was my first Audi and first german car and it has not left a good taste in my mouth.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Mine at least seemingly hadn't been already flagged as CPO, just not properly scanned to determine that status. Have you had any luck working with the dealership or Audi on your situation.

I don't think it got the word out to too many folks, but I did go to cars and coffee with my S6 with a sign on it on Sat and talked to a few people about it. Felt good to be doing something anyway, and it was fun to check out some cars. So I could fit it on my sign, I made a shortened URL that goes here that anyone else is welcome to use to help get the word out: https://bit.ly/NoAudiCPO

OP, did you get anything from the dealer you purchased the car from that looks like this? It looks like at least as of 2016, there was a dedicated CPO paper trail acknowledging that the car is not labelled TD1 before sale (i.e. 1.1 Q4 specifically mentions "free from ANY chip or wheel/tire modifications").

Seems pretty cut and dry that if the dealer's reps signed something like this and gave it to you, and sold you a TD1 car flagged in the system before your purchase date, the dealer is fully responsible for misrepresenting the car. In my opinion, AoA should hold a penalty over the selling dealer's head that essentially forces them into doing the right thing and making it right by you.

I don't understand why you guys even consider keeping a misrepresented car. You can 100% get your money back in full and prob more. This is a cut and dry case that any half good lawyer could win. Don't let them push you around...

I do have that paperwork, but it seems that Audi is saying it was scanned by the dealer, and was free of a tune at that time, despite me having confirmation from APR that it was tuned 7 months prior to my purchase. So, basically, I'm lying, despite the evidence from APR.

I'm definitely pursuing the legal route... I'm tired of being treated like this when I did absolutely nothing wrong!

Iíd even try finding the original owner and getting their documentation or an affidavit. Dont worry - those guys dont really think youre lying. Itís just a legal tactic.

Itís still unbelielable to me that Audi wouldnt throw you a bone. It makes me wonder what theyíre hiding or afraid of. Because they will lose this one. Not just your case but itís giving them a bad reputation.

I'm proud of everyone in support of you. Audi needs to get it together. Dealers need to get it together. Things like this should NEVER happen and it's amazing what it takes to bring about change. It's always a simple solution that could solve something like this and for whatever reason, brands just don't do the right thing. As if Audi doesn't have the resources to test your engine and inspect the car to ensure it is in good shape, and simply reinstate your warranty. You proved you had nothing to do with it being tuned, enough already.

Audi of Canada pretty much said to sort it out with the dealer. but with the dealer being over 600km's away and i searched for 6 months trying to find the right color combo / low miles and CPO. so i decided to make a deal with the dealer. they offered to cover any warranty claim that Audi of Canada denies and gave a 3500$ compensation check for the hassles. in the end im happy until i have a warranty claim and see how it gets dealt with.

@Tsherk That's at least a better deal than I've been offered from the dealer, although in your case, if it was already TD1, Audi should have known that and denied it outright. At least in my case, they claim to not have known until later, even if that seems to have been due to negligence on the dealer's end.

I do appreciate all of the support I've gotten here, as well as hearing the additional stories. It's helping to steel my resolve to fight this more than I otherwise might have. Stuff like this has to stop!

I've noticed that Audi or someone has been deleting my posts when I post something negative about them not responding. I posted that they seam to go ghost when after they get something wrong, and now my comment is no longer there on the RS3 launch control thread. I know that they reported me over my brake squeal comment. I'm surprised that they allow this thread...

I wouldnít have put up with this either. If it was me the car would have been back already and Iíd probably end up driving away in a New S6 for the same price as I had paid.

Audi/VW is a terrible company to deal with on any level. They screw up time and time again. I only once had a good experience with them. Corporate has a bunch of snakes in these forums, they are put here to "help us" but they are really just reporting back to Audi. They're not on our side at all. I love Audi's product but I hate the company on a customer service level and corporate level. All I have to say is keep the grass low because you need to see the snakes coming from miles away...

I just read through this as well. I can't believe it, I would like to think that AoA would have definitely attempted to find a resolution vs basically telling you to go kick dirt. While the selling dealership basically screwed you, Audi should have done something, in my honest opinion.

Nonetheless I cannot even imagine the nonsense, the stress and disappointment.

I briefly owned a 2011 MB W204 C300 4Matic with just 16k mileage in 2014, and my experience with Mercedes was very positive. The dealer staff were always very humble, took care of me and fully addressed anything that came up while I had the car. Basically I bought a really low mileage car from Carmax, but it still had the balance of its factory warranty for another year plus a few months. The only reason I did not keep that car was that I was misinformed on warranty extension, and it was too small for a new addition to the family.

I bought the car independently and while the original warranty transfers just fine, I wasn't able to buy the extended warranty through MB as I wasn't the original owner. I can't recall if this was a miscommunication or if something got lost in translation but it was the case. Nonetheless, they offerred a 3rd party one at a very generous discount when my original was set to expire, but it was still a tad too expensive. On the model I had, at higher mileage the transmissions were know to have issues and it's a $5k fix. I was hoping to protect myself from that while making payments. Then again, this was 2014 and doubt the car would have had that many miles to be worried anyways. Oh well.

When I first bought the car, I took it straight to MB for inspection and any warranty/recall work. They tuned the car up, fixed a few things there were bulletins on, re flashed the car with latest software and the dealer team gave me their personal discounts on the service atop a coupon. I think I was back six months later because I broke the air vent with one of those dash/phone holders. They fixed it quickly and gave me a newer loaner. Audi, granted I haven't gone to the dealer in ten years now, was ok. Quality issues that were blatant like soft touch peeling, things snapping and so on, they did not help me. Other things, only because my service rep at the dealer would advocate for me. Otherwise, just not sure. I bought my CPO at 36k. Was back in for 45k service on the house, then never went back unless warranty issues. I was already using a local shop for my VWs and just felt more relaxed there. Plus it was more convenient.

The sales end impressed me with my local MB dealer. When I decided that a C300 was what I could afford and had to be pre owned, I did visit and discuss CPO with them. The premium put the cars out of my budget and I told them Carmax has a ton of these cars off lease from MB with the balance of factory warranty. I drive 6-8k miles a year as I was keeping my B6 and have a Subaru as well. So I was more interested in price. They were polite in trying for my business and said well if you buy elsewhere, we'll make sure your car checks out and we hope you service it here. Maybe next time we'll facilitate you on the sales side, make it generous for you to trade up ;). That is service. Just my experience but to me, there's a reason MB doesn't really fight against BMW or VAG. Sort of have their own way of doing things IMHO. If you have concerns, I'd go discuss the CPO program with the manager or whomever is most knowledgeable. For me it was the finance managers. My dealer had two at the time and they were both up to speed on everything to do with warranty.

I also made the mistake of over worrying without a true cause. At 16k mileage I was worried about a transmission failure people with much more miles than I were having. Plus the dealer was aware of my concerns and did whatever they could in servicing the transmission and getting the latest software on it to make sure it was in good form. When I sold the car it had 21k mileage after 1.5 years with me. I say just enjoy your MB. I'll be joining you soon I bet. I am looking at the E class 4matics.

I think thereís an inherit risk we all take when we buy a used, even slightly used car. Good to know about your Mercedes experience. Wife had a GLK during her single years and the thing had no issues and drove beautifully. Only reason itís not in our garage is we needed a bigger family car.

Reading things like the OPís experience is scary though. And you do realize how infintissimally negligible the cost to a large company Audi of USA to accommodate this unusual case instead of accusing a customer of lying despite them showing proof of when the tune was bought. Hoping for some good outcome through legal. Itíd be my last VAG car if they did that to me thatís for sure.

Give them time, I'm sure they'll do something to you as they do to all of us...
Side Note my S class never once had any real issues besides the air suspension. Had over 100k on it and never once had a CEL or any real issues
