303 Tire Balm & Protectant (First impressions)

So I am NOT a big fan of tire shine. I hate the plastic look that it gives tires. My tires are getting old and starting to look dried out and I'm even starting to get a bit of superficial cracks here and there.

I was on the hunt for some sort of tire shine that restores the look of tires without going overboard. I'm a bit if a 303 fanboy so I looked at what they had.

Turns out they sell some tire Protectant. I bought some, cleaned my car, then applied the product and took some before and after pictures. All the product application pictures were taken after fully dry.

Without wasting too much time, here they are:

    WITHOUT 303 Tire Balm:

Now WITH A SINGLE APPLICATION of tire balm:

    2ND APPLICATION

So with this product, the more you apply, the shiner the tire gets.

Personally, I love the single application. It restores the look of the tire and makes it look much newer. The 2nd application is a tad too obvious. I'm not going for that look.

All in all, good stuff. I'll be using it from now on.

Awesome review! My issue with using tire shine products is that they never seem to last on the tires, at all. At least for me.

Well I have good hopes, I have the 303 Protectect that I use for my interior and it seems to last forever. I rarely ever clean my interior or re apply the stuff.

So I have good hopes. But I'm going to keep track of this thread.

If in a week it seems to be a waste, I'll update the review.

One thing I have noticed is the transition from the unshined part from the shined part of the tire seems to be very seamless on the first application.

It just gets rid of all the blemishes.

But on the second application, the transition is pretty noticeable

So you will notice a bigger effect on old tires. Not so much on new tires.

That transition you are talking about was also another reason I didn't like tire shine. Yeah the outsides look great but then it's night and day when you get to the tread. Keep us updated im very interested to see this outcome.

Key to tire shine is to put it on a clean tire... if you're putting layers on layers it won't work correctly. Use a good rubber cleaner and let them dry before applying. It will last a long time like that.

The 303 Aerospace Protectant. That was the first product I've ever used that turned me to their products. Check out the reviews on Amazon. Bottle isn't cheap but you only need to use it once or maybe twice a year in the interior.

Ive used it and it makes the interior look new. It's a low shine formula.

My usual process when I buy a used car is to do a deep clean of the surfaces of the car excluding the carpet. I would focus on removing the old product that is left on everything. Once everything is clean, I apply the 303 aerospace Protectant to everything liberally and wipe off.

For seats, I use their 303 leather cleaner and conditioner. Then I shampoo the carpet if needed. For the headliner, the 303 multisurface cleaner is decent.

If you have a better fabric cleaner, I'd avoid the 303 multisurface cleaner but it can clean everything. Even glass and fabric.

I agree 100%. For this test I pressure washed the tires at 2000 psi with a 15 degree spray angle.

But I didn't apply any rubber cleaner. I don't think that's nessesary with a pressure washer no?

Funny, I was looking for a product for my interior! just forgot to mention lol. I have 2 friends that do detailing at dealerships, the one says I can't get his products, the other said he buys all his from the dollar store and its all he's used since he has been doing it. My thoughts are that the dollar store products will make the car nice to sell but just wont hold up over time. I also assume this other guys "mystery" product just isn't found in stores.

You still need a good tire/rubber cleaner.
