    APR stage 1 question

I have an appointment to have stage 1 done tomorrow on my 14 S5. Shop called me today to see if I wanted full program or just basic. I guess full comes with 4 modes I can chose between ( stock,91,93,valet) and basic I have to choose one which would be 93

Its 135 extra to go with the 4 program models

What are the thoughts here any reason to go with the 4 modes and was anyone else charged extra for it. Its first time he had mentioned extra cost

    Thanks in advance

I don't have this upgrade but would pay for the extra modes as any time you go on a road trip you might be limited to 91 octane at random gas stations or other states and therefore the 93 program could mean running too advanced ignition timing = not good for your engine.

Your installer/reseller isn't quite up to date on things, as the B8.5's don't have file switching available from APR.

Thank you Yes I called APr this morning and found that out also. Which makes me wonder if I chose the right shop

Now I have to decide between 91/93 tune. APR rep said he would do 91 as I wont loose alot and if I find myself somewhere that doesnt have 93 im good. In his opinion running 93 on 91 tune is fine but not 91 on 93 tune. He even went as far to say if im going to an area I havent been and decide on 93 I should have the should change it to 91 first just to be same

On a positive note I was told they are holing to have the mobile app and program switching for the 3.0 done in next 60 days

Do you drive across the country often? If not, why are you so concerned with not being able to find 93? That said, even if you were on a 93 tune with only 91 as a choice, just don't beat on the car for extended periods of WOT. The ECU can retard ignition timing to mitigate danger, and it's not like the engine instantly blows up from having two less octane points in the tank.

Got tune done today @ 93. I couldn’t be happier. Feels like brand new car again. Higher recommend you get it to anyone on the fence about it
