Unhappy Post Oil Change Transmission Errors Displayed - 2013 A6 Quattro 3.0

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys! I changed the oil on my 2013 A6 Quattro 3.0 PP last night.
After starting the car back up, I started to get a 'no reverse gear - continue driving' error, shortly followed by a 'general transmission error, put car in park' message.

Has anyone else encountered this? I have had zero issues with the car up to this point.
    Thanks for the help!

Need to scan it.... Do you have VAGCOM?

Just curious: did you jack the car up, use ramps, or use an extractor to change oil?

Oil change meaning the engine oil, or Transmission "oil"? If you changed your engine oil, that has nothing to do with the transmission and is purely coincidental. Unless you knocked some connector loose under the car or engine bay. But that's highly unlikely and hard to do on accident changing the engine oil.
If you did a transmission drain or dropped the pan and changed the filter, (highly involved procedure), you may not have filled enough trans fulid back, didn't run the gears properly, a number of other drain and replace steps for tranny fluid change.
Cycle thru the MMI and check settings for engine oil level and see if you have dynamic settings, change those back and forth and see if it comes out of its funk.
If not, its a trip to the dealership or call around an euro Indy or transmission shop and see if they work on Audi 8 speeds.

Right on, my brother is going to let me borrow his VCDS.

    I used ramps.

Thanks Brian, it was engine oil. MMI was showing full oil this morning when I checked.

I'm an idiot, bonehead mistake. It was a total hindsight is 20/20 and all the clues started lining up. I drained tranny fluid and added oil.

I haven't run it much at all, only enough to run the VCDS on it. Got three main errors:

Trying to get it towed either to the local Audi dealer here in Lakeland or to a euro shop in Brandon today.

Thanks for the suggestions and replies, gents.

Oh boy. An expensive lesson to be learned. I suggest purchasing and using this next time.

Trans fluid is around $30/qt, you’ll need about 4 qts, and then whatever oil is, hour or two of labor, you'll probably be out the door for $350-400.

It's the Audi recommended way to change the oil and more refined way at that. It's been years since I crawled under one of my cars to change the oil.

On the S cars the filter is on the bottom so you have to crawl under anyways plus you can inspect your car underneath.

Oh that's no fun. I've been spoiled as mine have always been top-side access.
