    Anybody plastidip their window trim?

Hey everyone, so I'm trying to de-chrome my 2012 A6 and all that's left is the window trim. I wanted to get it wrapped but all the places I've talked to want $400+ to do it and at that price I just don't think its worth it. I'm thinking about trying plastidip but I wanted to hear how it came out for anyone else that has done it.

Premium auto styling has a kit that includes 2” vinyl for DIY. $50 for a the whole kit. I’ve never done vinyl before but it was super easy. Knifeless tape (YouTube) was helpful for the rear window.

I haven’t done it yet. But a friend of mine plastidipped his grill and it looked fantastic. Held up well too. Even if I had to redo it every two years I think it’s worth it. I’ve been planning to attempt it for a while.

Did it on my S4, looks great. Make sure to open the doors after you spray your last coat.

That's great to hear! Do you have any pictures of how it came out? Also how long ago did you do it and how is it holding up to everyday wear?

Do you get any 'extra' wear on the trim where it touches the door rubbers from opening and closing?

Did it about 6 months ago, no extra wear. I use the dipcoat to make it more scratch resistant. Just prep well, make sure the dip is at room temp so it atomizes better and take your time. Do at least six to eight coats and after your last one while it's wet, open the doors. Check out the Dip your car YouTube channel. I'll dig up a pic and try to post it.
