Does an A4 need the 40k mile DSG service?

So I have recently purchased an S3 and through all the discussions trying to decide on Audi Care I saw a lot of posts about the 40k DSG service. My wife has a 2013 A4 that we bought used and it just passed 41k miles. So I called my dealer to find out about servicing it and they said the A4 does not need the DSG service? Is this correct? Is it only an S thing? Thanks.

To my understanding all DSG need fluid change at that point

The A4 doesn't have the DSG, but rather Tiptronic I believe (?), but definitely not direct shift clutch, so whatever service interval that would need instead.

B8 A4's have a ZF transmission. Only the B9's have DSG.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

Just keep it as a good practice to change gearbox fluid every ~37.5k miles. You can't avoid having metal powder in it even though there are magnets. Also, it loses its abilities over time/mileage as any other liquid.

Great good to know. I thought they were all the same. Looks like maybe between 60-90k it might need something. Thank you all.

Might have more luck with future questions regarding your A4's automatic transmission, and other corresponding parts, in the B8 A4 subforum.

I only read your post not any of the others. I have experience with a DSG and an Stronic transmission. I just sold my 2007 GTI which has a DSG tranny. I sold it to a friend with 283,000 km on the odometer. I did all tranny services which were recommended by VW. I never had any issues with the transmission it ran like new when I sold it. I drove the hell out of that car. I currently have a 2016 S3 with the Stronic. That car has Audi care so it will get done when required. I recommend Audi care which I have on my 2018 RS5. Good luck with your decision and your car.
