Could use some input on nice northern AZ and southern UTAH roads. Thx.

Hi gang. I'm planning a roadtrip (hopefully with my brother) probably leaving next Friday (April 6) for about a week. Will leave El Paso to Sedona (first night) via I-10, 70, then 188/260 after Globe. After that stop, I have nothing set in stone, so suggestions welcome, especially roads. But here's my preliminary route, although still have to determine where to sleep. I can spend a week, so Friday to Friday. This tentative route is 1,9xx miles total. I've never been to the Sedona/Flagstaff areas, and never to Utah before, so that's where I need help. I've been multiple times to Colorado and northern NM, so won't bother you with that, but will stop in Durango, Pagosa Springs, and Taos. Anyway, after sleeping in Sedona, then was thinking heading north to Flagstaff (is it worth stopping there?), then on 180 to Tuasyan, drive the south GC rim, then Lake Powell, Zion national park, and Bryce national park. But if there're other must-see places in northern AZ, please mention them. After leaving Bryce, is where I need the most help: Google maps takes me back to Lake Powell, then to CO via 98 and 160. I want to drive some of the iconic UT roads I've seen for years, but have no idea where they are. I could always scrap CO and Northern NM and visit the rest of Utah, but only if it's super worth it, since I really like the Durango area, not to mention the Taos area, especially to get there. But I could detour some if there're nice roads higher up than on 160, towards CO. Thanks gang.

89a out of flagstaff down into Sedona has to be one of the best roads in the state, especially once you drop into the canyon and drive along the creek.

You could pick up 89A again south of Page, into UT. I think it’s a nicer drive than regular 89, unless you want to see the dam. From Bryce, UT 12 is really nice, then UT 24 through Capital Reef gets you pointed towards CO.

Thanks for the help. Have the routes chosen. I'll do 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona for sure. Will also do a good chunk of 89 above that, but coming down from Lake Powell, will detour on 64 to Grand Canyon Village, then go down to Flagstaff via 180, then 89A to Sedona. I'll only do 12 to Bryce, but won't venture north of that, so that will have to be for some other occasion. Will come from Durango to Lake Powell via 160. Somebody said to detour a little thru 491/191 (Monticello), rather than 160, but there will be lots of salt and maybe snow, so supposedly better to go thru 160. I'd pass that area this coming Monday morning. If one of you think it'd be nice to do that detour anyway, let me know. Will sleep in Zion, rather than Bryce, at the end of the road. Then drive back to Lake Powell again, to visit the horseshoe bend observation area, then to Grand Canyon Village (Tovar hotel). Thank you again for all your help.
