    stg3 SB clutch/flywheel/damper question

It's time for a clutch replacement.

The spec stg3+ (yeah i know everyone complains about them, but it was already in there) on stock DMF began slipping in 4th gear and up, at about 15psi or more. 2 or 3 fuel tanks later of 0-5psi driving and the clutch began dragging more and more with daily driving. I thought the slave might need bleeding but this didn't help things. Pedal feel kept getting lighter too... to the point its lighter than stock.

I'm planning a southbend stg3 endurance and most sites recommend a SMF made of steel. My question is why does this clutch require a new flywheel? Going SMF forces me to do the fluidampr to mitigate NVH. I'm curious as to why the stg3 southbend won't be at home on the DMF. I'm asking because ~1k for the clutch vs ~2200 for clutch, SMF and damper.

Anyone with experience running the SB stg3 endurance on the stock flywheel? Is this just asking for trouble?

    Advice is appreciated!

Background, just rebuilt some parts and negleceted to throw a clutch in during these changes:
rebuilt turbos with jounrals and seals replaced (they are bw k04 hybrids with EPL fueling and 26psi tune)
rebuilt 01e (jhm 1-2 collar and 6 synchros kit) with 4:1 and 944 lsd
    110,000km on the engine/tranny
clutch lasted ~50,000km when the car went stg3, plus ~1200km after i noticed the clutch beginning to slip

Car does weekend road trips and road course/track days.

EDIT: slave is brand new oem. ~1200km on it as it was damaged during the re/re (stepped on it and cracked the plastic)
