These posts refer to MIB2 MMI though right? With the eSIM? MIB1 with the external SIM are still probably screwed.

Yep and some MIB2 without the eSIM models work also but not for the A6/A7

I would contact Audi of America if dealers in Houston are not responsive. AOA has been responsive to me on Facebook, if you have a Facebook account. Audi has issued a TSB and dealers all over US should have the software. The Audi dealer where I bought my SQ5 updated my software during my SQ5's December 2019 service.

Hi all. My GE just died in my 2017 Q7. Did some digging in the AC subscription site, and found this:

Edit - one more question, anyone try to get a pro-rated discount on their subscription? I didn’t pay 500 f***ing dollars for them to take Google Earth away 6 months later.

FYI-

Don’t think your 2016 is eligible for the update as per the notice on their website. Only select 2017-2018 models based on manufacture date and hardware used.

Someone in the Audi Owners Facebook group suggested adding a CarPlay/AA kit when I brought up this issue there. He posted a video of it working in his older Audi. I think it’s something you can install yourself or have a local shop do it, without having to do any major hardware swaps.

Yes there is a firmware update to get carplay working, search the forum.

Carplay doesn't work as good, there is no display in the VC and HUD, personally i don't like google maps at all, the original navigation is much more relaxing to drive with.

Correct, all B8.5s aren't working and there's no documented plan to provide and update so far.

Can anyone from AOA confirm if there is a later rollout plan for this update or is it definitely never going to get an update?

What a bummer. In the MMI it’s showing that my “satellite imagery” subscription expired on 12/31/20, even though my Connect Prime membership is active until 11/2021, and disabled the Maxar update the dealership did couple days ago. Hopefully it’s something Support can update on my subscription and enable it.

When I saw your post I immediately went to the garage and started my SQ5. After starting, the navigation rebooted and after booting the satellite map loaded. Sometimes when my Connect membership lapses and I re-subscribe, I have to manually change the map setting from standard to satellite. When I change the setting the MMI checks my Connect account and then loads the satellite map. Maybe this will work.

Sounds like there is something strange going on with your Connect account. Yes, my virtual cockpit still shows Maxar and to my surprise "Google" is still there next to the speedometer like in the picture you shared above.

I had to go down to my SQ5 again to double check the menu. On the map screen, when I hit the "+", the only selection I saw are: Map Settings, Route Criteria, Voice Guidance, Navigation Settings, Audi Connect at this location, Parking nearby, Save current position and Online traffic data. I did not see anything about Connect expiration date or renewal subscription. Not sure if we are looking at the same menu. I go to the Map Settings to change the map from standard to satellite. Maybe your are right because I was thinking about another Lexus, but those vehicles are very boring to drive. It's the reason why I purchased the Audi in the first place because the Lexus that I had were super boring. People like the reliability though.

I do admit I really like the RS6 Avant. I am also looking at 911 Carrera and Cayenne Coupe S. Then again I should just keep my SQ5 and look at upgrading in a couple of years.

Okay, went back down and restarted my SQ5 to look at the menu you looked at. Still no Connect expiration date or renewal subscription. When I did go to Audi Connect on the main menu, the satellite map disappeared but asked me if I wanted to activate satellite map. When I selected to activate, the satellite map loaded fine. See screenshots below.

We went to the Porsche dealership first, but after my wife test drove the Audi, she didn't want the Cayenne for some reason. I think the other Porsche SUV was too small. However, I think Volkswagen sells the Porsche too.

Ok so in the first image, you see how you have Satellite Map highlighted, do you see the “+” on the right side? If you hit that it should take you to the list of options I’m talking about and you’ll be able to see your subscription status.

LOL. Satellite map has the right expiration date. Audi also assumes my car will break down before December 13, 2116 and thus will not need the built-in sim card.

Yes you can use the pics. I have a 2018 SQ5 with estimated production date week 47 of 2017 (4717) and production was completed November 22, 2017. Did you try changing the map from the map "+" menu? It will force your vehicle to check/sync with your Connect account.

It’s saying “your subscription to satellite map has expired”. I have no idea why it’s segregating satellite map as a separate subscription from the main one. I’ll logout of it and log back in to see if it syncs with my account properly. Otherwise I might have to visit the dealer again.

So I spoke with Audi CS, and the lady told me I have the MMI version (P3639 I believe) that is compatible for the HERE satellite imagery software. However it was made available on Jan 1st, so the dealer wasn’t aware of it and they only did the Maxar update on 12/29 when I took the car in, which then expired on 12/31. So I’m going in tomorrow for the HERE update. Fingers crossed again..lol.
