    Anyone have this issue?

Sometimes my maps will show me behind where the actual navigation is. Or off the road from where I'm driving. And if it automatically zooms in, sometimes not even on the map. Like it's zoomed in way off somewhere not remotely close to where I am at.

I've restarted the MMI before to no success. Short of factory reset, I'm at a loss. I have not driven the car outside the MD-PA-DE-NJ area since last November, and even then, only went to Ohio.

Note: I think first pic was caught on a screen refresh

Our MMI 3G+ Google Earth adventure continues, though likely for not much longer (pending the shutdown of AT&T's 3G data service in February).

Google Earth image overlays continue to download with not too old image data (here, just west of Toledo, we see images of construction of the new US23 interchange at Dorr Street, including the new roundabouts on Dorr Street, which opened in early September, in a PNG screenshot):

Navigation data in the screenshot is from November 2019, hence, no vector map data for the exit (or roundabouts) until (maybe) updated nav data released this year (which won't be available here until late next year, at the earliest).

Anyone else following this thread still getting Google Earth image data on their soon-to-be-obsolete (thanks to AT&T) 3G+ systems ? --g

My worked last week for one journey!

It's a bit bizarre, but last week we got a new sim card for my 2017 A6 Allroad in the UK. The old one stopped working well over a year ago, but I didn't bother. So I put the new one in the car, and turned on Google maps view and hey presto, there was the Earth view of maps. It lasted that whole journey and worked a treat. But once I parked up and left the car for three hours and came back, it stopped working and hasn't worked since.

I just decided to come on and see why that was and found that good old Audi had basically just not bothered. I did see someone say that Audi reported it didn't work because of Google, but since mine worked fine for a seventy mile trip, then that seems unlikely.

What an arse. Has anyone found a way around it yet?

    Cheers all.

I had had the same problem and was caused by a faulty GPS antenna (quite diffused problem and affecting several Audi models since they share the same part, just search on this or other Audi forums).
In my case the problem was not continuous but rather frequent, and once happening, lasting for hours (until the car was parked for a day or so).
If you didn't solve the problem yet, next time you see the car is positioned off-road, confirm how many satellites the GPS is logged to (0, very likely); if so, try to gently tapping the antenna with your fingers, often the system logs again to satellites and place the car on-road correctly
