Picked up some brushed aluminum mirror caps and a dirt cheap replica black optic S3 grille on eBay. The grille was $175 with free shipping!!! No way that thing is OEM but who am I to care at that price point! Comes with the crash bar protector and a plate holder which I do not need and an S3 badge all for that price. It was an impulse buy for sure but how could I not at that price. I have at least 5 different parts coming to me over the next few weeks and hope to get a nice detail in and photo session after they are all installed but here is a picture of the grille from the listing.

Let me know how that installation goes. I saw you have to remove the front bumper and about 40 screws or something, so I have been putting off replacing my grill lol. If it isn't too bad, that will be my next purchase!

I wasn't really wanting to do that either but it is worth the effort for this. I have taken off many bumpers in the past, you had to do the same with my old MK4 Jetta and I had it down to a science like 20 minutes off and back on LOL. Emmanuel Designs actually made up a DIY to remove the grille but none of their pictures work. I will try to remember to take some shots if I can.

I actually pulled off the originals and painted them a satin silver to match the grill

Install wasn't too bad googled how to... roughly took 2 hrs by myself

So how about the seller on eBay is trying to message me and tell me that there was a "bug" with eBay and the price wasn't right and it should have been listed for $60 more than what I paid. I was like oh hell no, you have to honor that price. You listed it and I bought it. So we will see if I actually end up with this grille or not UGH!

Yep. Definitely noticeable. I bought it used and had to redo the settings. At first I did them wrong and essentially turned it off. Drove around pretty disappointed.

I went in and adjusted the settings and, yeah, it pulls. Extra boost really kicks in at like 2500/3000 + RPMs.

There’s a video of a 0-60 on my car’s Instagram page. Handle is redrocketa3. Car can do it in about 5s now.

Other than that I have an APR CAI and am running 93 octane.

BTW, I’ll be selling mine in early May when I’m out of warranty and will go with a real tune. Will update this thread. My worry is that the real tune won’t be super noticeable over the JB1 . But hey, gotta keep modding.
