Just wanted to post that after adding the Smart Top module, I am very happy with the results. It is a very simple plug and play upgrade that does everything that says it can do with no issues. If you have a carbrio and are tired of holding your top switch the entire time is takes to open/close the roof, want to open the roof/windows from your key faub, this is the upgrade for you.

Sorry to rehash an existing thread.. but..

Any chance you can tell me how far away you can be with the Key Fob to open the top? That's the biggest thing for me.. With Vag options you can do most of those functions (except the one touch open the top inside the car), but the reach for the convertible top is only about 5ft.

Just wondering how far away you can get with the smart top to open the roof

Would love it if you could let me know

    Thanks so much

    Hey Ryan,

It's the same distance as the rest of the functions of your key fob. So long as commands reach the vehicle, the SmartTop will begin the requested functionality.

    Thank You,

    Old thread......

I just found out my CPO I bought a year ago had a smart top module installed. IMHO I did not like the feature. When I was looking at the car at the dealer, a couple of times playing with the fob the top went down. I did not think that was stock feature and the sales person did not exactly know what was going on. When I bought the car the top down from the fob did not activate but the windows went down. ok I figured the dealer unprogrammed the feature for sales prep.

After owning the car, several times after parking I came back to find the windows down. Putting the fob in my pocket pressed the buttons and put the windows down. I would have been more upset if the top had gone down. Inside the car, several times moved the top button by accident and because it is one touch up/down, the process started going. You have to hit the button the other way to stop and go the other way. Last week on one of the abnormal NE warm days, I came out from work and wanted to put the top down, no go. Also the master window switch did not wok nor the trunk release. youtoube said they were related. I took it to the dealer under warranty, and they found the smart top module. It had malfunctioned and stopped everything from working. The module was removed.
