    Agree to all of the above. Just had mine cleaned and new coil packs & plugs installed. 136k miles one the clock

    This might be a dumb question, but how do you know if you need carbon cleaning? I have 136K miles (mainly freeway/highway miles) and have no signs of any hesitation, loss of performance, etc.

    I just thought since I have high mileage, I should get it done.

    I have this same question except I don't feel this is a dumb question. :) There is no hard evidence that a dirty intake with heavy strong carbon buildup shows any evidence except maybe contribute to possible poor fuel economy.
