Very nice cars you’ve got there.

Virtually none are stock. All modified, as they should be. Which is the point I was trying to get across - if we went by “there’s a reason no B5 comes with ——“, we’d all be driving bone stock cars.

Don’t vent to atmosphere. If you want that sound buy a damn JDM track queen and go speed density. Or tune our MAF’s properly and stay diverter.

Fail Friday! This comes straight from my book of do it nice or do it twice. At the end of my build I was in a rush to get the car back together. All I needed was some new trans fluid. Some how in my research I missed the part about GL4 and GL5. So I went to my local parts store and picked up some full syn M1 "gl5" and filed my Trans. 5k later the hard shifting started as the GL5 was eating up the Brass parts in my trans. School of hard knocks I drove out of state for a new trans and swapped it over a weekend. Be sure to buy the right parts even if that means waiting 3 days for the UPS man.

In a nut shell, use the trans fluid, use the right oil, use the right coolant etc. Its not a Honda.

Cut up an s4 bumper to compensate for an ill-fitting intercooler setup.
PO of this bumper had a janky FMIC setup and just completely destroyed this thing. they even went so far as to cut out the filler plate area AND THEN THEY DRILLED IT FULL OF HOLES TO ZIPTIE THE FILLER PLATE BAK ON

pics are after i tried to put it back together as best i could. Its going onto my drift car, so its not a huge deal that its hammered, its just confusing as to the thought process of the PO

It is going onto the blue car. It came with a parts car i picked up. those pics are it "stitched" back together. I don't think i'm going to run it with the filler plate like that, ill just leave the gaping hole for now. just wanted to see how it looked before painting it pelican blue to match the rest of the car.
and you're right, it does have a lot of stuff going on. Like custom tubular Ackerman/caster/camber adjustable, roll center correcting control arms with uniball balljoints to achieve ~55* steering angle and 0 ackerman with stock steering and tie-rod pickup points.

Although I appreciate the input from a B5 legend, I disagree (shocking, i know).

It's not as if I did it to a pristine S4 or something blasphemous like that. It is a 22 year old A4 that sat in a field with a blown up 12v in it for 7 years. It required replacement of every single drivetrain part underneath due to New England rot and evacuation of generations of rodents lol. I did my part to keep an original Pelican car out of the scrapyard. I also have not done anything irreversible to keep it from going back to a "normal" A4. I have even removed the original front and rear bumpers and left them intact for safe keeping and future re-installation. The only irreversible modification I've performed is preemptively removing The false firewall to make room to move the engine and trans as far back as i can without cutting the tunnel.

And, if i were to drift an e36, or 240, corolla, etc, id be just like everybody else. Where is the fun in that? You of all people should understand wanting to take a different approach than most.

pic of the irreversible false firewall removal.

I, for one, approve of this Pelican B5 drift sled.

Sliding a thing that generally doesn't slide that well is part of the challenge. And it's way more interesting to watch than *yet another* Nissan ESSS THIRTEEEEN. Holy crap is it boring for a car guy to go to an event that is literally just a bunch of the same chassis with the same 2 or 3 engine swaps. Something more original is always a highlight.

Although its not really my thing, I totally agree. Its cool to see someone do something else with one of these cars. It looks like you have a lot of fun with this thing, and thats really what matters.

But also, I'm pretty sure the side exit exhaust cutout counts as irreversible too

sssssshhhh. its technically reversible, just not easily

never gonna happen. if i ever went V8 it would be a 4.2
I have no intentions of a V8 swap at any point, atleast not in this car. I have a lot of people tell me to V8 swap it solely because it is a drift car.
    But that ain't me.

Ecs does have good flash sales every so often. Got a new fuel pump for $60 (vemo) brand. But I prefer Fcp and Europa as their closer and budget friendly

This is my statement from the BBK thread this is what ended it for me. This is after I had other problems with mostly shipping taking way longer than they said. When I complained about it "where is my order" they did nothing for me other than look up the tracking info. I can do that, thanks for nothing.

"Its old news now but i'd like to give every one a heads up (ECS IS A JOKE!). I talked to ECS on the phone and gave them there part #, they said I could just use the A8 rotor. (with that kit based on the part number I gave them) so I picked up a set of A8 rotors from them. That is the last thing i'll ever buy From them! I got them in and they were to small for my carriers (that ecs made too, that I also gave them that part number ) ECS's 2 piece rotor is about 330x25mm, A8 is 312x25mm so I had a nice bit of pad hanging off the rotor not going to fly! called ecs and asked them for a shipping label I want to return the part you told me would fit the kit you don't make any more. They said NOPE you have to pay for shipping. or we can sell you the smaller carriers for more $$$$.

Note that I had spend a lot of money with ECS before this (performance and service parts etc)

So in the end I payed for shipping both ways and still had no parts that would fit! very unhappy costumer!
If you find yourself in my shoes don't buy the smaller carrier from them (if they even sell it anymore)."

I even sent ECS these photos...
