    B8 A4 & A5 Keyless Entry/Push Start DIY

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am doing a retrofit for convenience key/comfort access and I am trying to figure out the proper key I need. I know that I need a 868 megahertz key to match my new bcm2 module but what I am unsure of is does the new key need to have the same FCC ID as my original non convenience key?

    Thanks in advance

Here is a parts list for anyone wanting to do this retrofit. Hopefully this will help.make some progress maybe someone will get all the parts together before I do since I am not starting it until I can do multiple retrofits at once.

B8 PUSH START CONVIENENCE KEYLESS ENTRY PARTS LIST

1st step before buying a BCM2 on the right side if your trunk open the flap and check to make sure you don't t have one already compatible, don't be confused the outline for the plug is there but you need to feel if there are pins in it.

BCM2: 8K0907064AD/AE/AQ/BQ/CQ/DQ, AL, and CD and there are likely more just run the part number through Google to get a good image of it. Be careful what your dealer says they gave me incorrect information

    MMI control console 2G : 8T0 919 609 C

    MMI control console 3G : 8T0 919 609 G

    Radio control console: 8K0 864 261 G

Key : 315mhz, 433mhz, or 868mhz (must check the frequency of the BCM2, it's printed on the face of the module) obviously 868mhz is the strongest and best frequency but also the keys for this are a little harder to find 315 are easy and there are tons of cheap fobs on ebay.

Antenna: 8K0 907 247 (this is a little bit tricky, there are cases where we need 4 pieces, some of BCM2 use only 2, but usually you just need 3, at least according to ElsaWin

    Plug antenna : 8E0 972 623 (3 pieces)

    Cable antenna : 000 979 018 E (3 pieces)

    Tapping screw: N 908 298 03 (2 pieces)

    Hex Nut: N 909472 01 (2 pieces)

    Tapping screw: N 909 855 01 (1 piece)

Cover antenna spare wheel well: 8K0 919 132 (1 pieces)

    Plug comfort control unit: 1J0 972 977 D (1 pieces)

    Cable Plug comfort control unit : 000 979 009 E (6 pieces)

    Plug start button: 8K0 973 754 (1 pieces)

    Cable Plug start button : 000 979 009 E (2 pieces)

    Door sensors 4G8 927 753 (4 pieces)

    Connector door sensors: 4H0 973 702 A (4 pieces)

    Cable Connector door sensors : 000 979 034 E (4 pieces)

    Magnet door handle: 8T0 837 343 (4 pieces)

    Cable A/B-pillar : 000 979 034 E + 000 979 035 E (3 pieces + 3 pieces)

THIS DIY IS FROM AN A5 SO WHILE EVERYTHINF SHOULD BE THE SAME I AM GUESSING THERE MIGHT BE SOME SLIGHT DIFFERENCES NONE THE LESS I AM.COMPILING ALL THE INFO HERE IN ONE PLACE IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE THIS A GO. RIGHT NOW I SUSPECT THAT WITH THE HARNESS FROM ALI MOST OF THESE PARTS WON'T BE NEEDED.

Here is the link to refer back to, since this can be a little confusing with the poor translation from.german to.english.

    https://www.motor-talk.de/blog...im-...-t3942288.html

    Hello everybody,

Since I'm doing the Keyless Go on my Audi A5, I thought I would write a matching one-on-one.

I will try to describe everything as well as possible.

For questions or assistance can also be used to the appropriate contribution!

I have also marked all the ECUs and linked so if what is blue deposited because you could just click on it and then see what part that is or what control unit that is and what plug is meant!

Here the picture of the comfort control unit**(to find behind the right flap in the trunk)!

    *

And here from the onboard power supply control unit**(front mounted under the steering wheel)!

First of all, a list of required parts:

MMI unit with the start button:

Part number MMI unit with start button.*In my case I had installed the MMI 2G High and need the part number with the C at the end!

But there are certainly still several part numbers that would fit.

    TN 2G:*8T0 919 609 C

    TN 3G:*8T 0 919 609 G

Antennas with plugs and cables and*fixing*:

The antennae have all the same part numbers it may be that*only*2*antennas are needed or*3*depends on which comfort control device is installed to later more:
(This part is likely to be different a sedan could need 2, 3, or 4 antennas)

    Installation Antennas:

    Antenna 1 (trunk)

    Antenna 2 (center console)

    Antenna 3 (driver's door)

Order parts 2 or 3 times:

    Antenna:**8K0 907 247*(2, 3 or 4)
    *
    Plug*:**8E0 972 623*(2 or 3)

    Cable:**000 979 018 E*(2 or 3)

    Tapping screw:**N 908 298 03*(2X)

    Hex Nut:**N 909 472 01*(2X)

    Countersunk screw:**N 909 855 01**

    *Cover for spare wheel well:**8K0 919 132**

    Plug comfort control unit:***1J0 972 977 D*

Plug and cable for the start button in the MMI unit:

    *Plug:*8K0 973 754*(4*pin**.)

    Cable:**000 979 009 E*(2X)

Door sensors with cables and cables for the comfort control unit:

    Door*sensors:**4G8927753*(4X) (SEDAN NEEDS 4)

    Plug connection door sensors:**8J0 973 202*(4X)

    Connector Cable:**000 979 034 E*(4X) (*Picture*)

    Magnet Door*Handle*:**8T0 837 343*(4X)**

    Cable plug connection doors:**000 979 035 E*(3X)

    Cable Connector A Column:**000 979 034 E*(2X)

    Cable connecting cable Comfort control unit:**000 979 009 E(5X)

    Adhesive Tape (VW - Audi):*000 979 950*

    *

    Radio key (transmitting unit):

    8T0 959 754*D*(without keyless)*you still need a new transmitter unit:

    *Keys for Keyless:**8T0 959 754 K
(These keys are not correct, yes they might work for A5 but they are not the keys I'm looking for which is 4 button remote I will update parts for sedan when I can but leaving this here ikncase this gets posted in A5 section for those guys.

PLEASE EXCUSE THE LANGUAGE MY PHONE TRANSLATED THE GERMAN TO ENGLISH SO IT'S NOT PERFECT

*That was all the parts that are needed

Next comes the wiring first, I put it together here!*As a picture I have again added the wiring diagram for the comfort control unit (circuit diagram comfort STG) there are also the antennas to see.

    *

Wiring antennas, door sensors and start button:

    *

    Wiring antenna under the MMI:

    *

from antenna*pin 1*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 16

from antenna*pin 2*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 15

    *

Wiring antenna in the spare wheel well:

    *

from antenna*pin 1*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 14

from antenna*pin 2*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 13

    *

Wiring Antenna Passenger door:*(Not required for some STGs!)

    *

from antenna*pin 1*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 12

from antenna*pin 2*to the comfort control unit plug*T32e bluepin 11

Wiring start button in the center console (MMI):

    *

From start button*pin 1*to*ground*(under the center console)

    From the start button*pin 2*on*Bordnetzstg.*Plug T32b Blackto*Pin 1

    From*Start Button*Pin 3*to Comfort*Controller*Plug*T32e BluePin 1

    From*Start Button*Pin 4*to Comfort*Controller*Plug*T32e BluePin 3

    *

    Door sensor driver side:

    *

    From sensor*pin 1*to*ground

    From sensor*pin 2*to*door*bushing T27a to*pin 3

    Of*door implementing*T27a (A column inside)*Pin3*comfort controller plug*T32e Blue*Pin 32

    *

    Door sensor passenger side:

    *

    From sensor*pin 1*to*ground

    From sensor*pin 2*to*door*bushing T27c to*pin 3

    Of*door implementing*T27c (A column inside)*Pin3*comfort controller plug*T32e Blue*Pin 30

    *

    __________________________________________________ ______

    *

First time to the comfort control unit:

    *

    I have the*8K0 907 064 E*installed.*To go even that ending*AQ,*AE*,*AD*,*DC*,*CQ*and the*8T0 907 064 E*.

If your STG supports this, you can test it by coding it and then*perform a diagnosis of the 3 (2) keyless antennas*in the*STG 5*times.*If it can be coded and you have the diagnosis 3 or 2 error messages from the antennas inside your STG should support this.

    *

If not you would have to ask at Audi with your VIN number which would be the right Keyless supported and let install this and let encode from Audi.

    *

    Coding Keyless Go:

    *

    STG 46 - Byte 7 Bit 0

    *

    STG 46 - Byte 2 Bit 3

    STG 5-byte 0 bit 2

    *

Then in each case the bit 4 must be set in the Stür-STG right and left in byte 2!

    *

    *

    Description:

    *

Here are a few pictures on which also the laying of the cables in the doors can be seen:

    *

Cable entry side in the door

    *

Door lock from inside where later the cable is laid for the door sensor

    *

    Removed cylinder from the outside

    *

Remove the blanking plug from the door handle

    *

Door handle with inserted sensor bottom, the blind plug is still visible

    *

Door handle with fully attached door sensor

    *

Magnet in the housing of the cylinder

    *

Cable entry from the inside door to the outside

    *

Finished cable of the door sensor inside

    *

Antenna and wiring harness driver door

    *

Routed cable to door STG and connector

    *

Cable entry from inside door to connector

    *

Finished cables on the inside of the door

    *

Disconnect connector between door and vehicle

    *

Connector plug between door and vehicle unplugged

    Seal door wiring loosened

    Inside door wiring harness outwards

    *pic wasn't available

    Door plug seal loosened

    *

Door plug vehicle side housing removed and cable attached

    *

Cable entry door re-installed from the inside

    *

    *

    Laying the cables:

    *

As the first time I've pulled all the cables through the car so the cables from the center console to the rear and from the two doors to the rear.

    *

I connected all cables and plugs as described above and*wrapped them*with the original VW Audi*fabric*tape!

    *

Info: For the assignment of the start button, I found out that there is a cable for the lighting is connected to the*electrical system*!*

This can also be s.einer pin in the MMI unit or on the small cable for the 12v socket lighting but this only goes if you have the light on!*So I would advise this as described by me above on the*electrical system

*Pin1 pinch because the lighting of the switch then already when you unlock the vehicle!

    *

The installation of the antennas is actually quite easy!*In the*center console,

this is only pushed into the existing bracket and fastened with a screw!

    *

The antenna in the back of the*spare wheel well

*is screwed on with the two plastic nuts as shown in the picture above.*Then the protective part is pushed over it and done!

    *

After the antennas and the start button are mounted and everything is coded you can test schonmal whether it works so far!*If there is no suitable key yet you get the message "No key detected" when you press the start button in the speedometer but if you start the engine normally you can switch off the engine already with the button!*If the matching key is already present and trained so you can use Keyless Go already quite normal only that you just can not open the doors so that only works if the*door sensors*are installed*in the*door handles*are more later.

    *

Since the*third antenna*is necessary this must be installed in the driver's door as seen above in the pictures.
    *

The two door sensors are each connected to the Comfort STG with only one cable, the other wire goes to ground in the door.*If everything is wired so everything should work.

    *

The installation of the door sensors is actually quite simple!*First of all, you have to loosen the screw at the height of the lock so that you can remove the lock.*The screw is underneath the door seal on the front of the door and is protected with a small sticker.

Just turn it all the way out until it can not be done anymore then the door lock (cylinder) can be removed forwards.

Next, you can then remove the door handle and the blind part as seen on the Bildenr is removed so that you can obstruct the door sensor.*The image part of what is inside you can easily raushebeln it is only stuck!

    Mine is 8K0 907 064 CD

But also these should work too....
    8K0 907 064 AD/AE/AQ/BQ/CQ/DQ, and AL.

I have everything for the kit except keys. I plan on getting 2 genuine 4 button keys. And I am doing the retrofit for all 4 doors and the trunk.

Nice work maybe give a small write up when your finished? I have a parts list I just haven’t gotten around to sourcing everything. I’m currently writing in a remote start and viper alarm

I'll try but i might not be able to cuz I only decided to do this swap because when I was sourcing my 3G+ parts I saw it wasn't much more to do convince key/push start, then I saw it wasn't much more to add ACC, then I saw it wasn't much more to add oem rear cam, ..... you can see where this is going lol and I added rear PDC when I did my rear sline bumper to dual valence for my stasis exhaust I still need to run the wiring harness for that, im waiting till I do this install for that.

AND since I am doing a manual swap I figured I would wait to do the manual swap until I had all the parts for my extensive retrofit and install it all together since a lot of the stuff will be out. I just need 2 more keys, a cluster and the 3g+ harness and a clutch kit. Other than that I think I have everything.

At the very least I'll provide a parts list for all the retrofit kits I have put together because that's the most important info needed.

Yea definitely. I’m in that same boat, 09 base trim so I’m heading down that same path of a lot of retrofits. Next on my list is push to start/keyless entry modules.

When I looked into this and established a parts list the non-convenient and convenient were the same part number. The only reason for needing new keys is to match them to the bcm for the proximity. You can install all the parts and the car will still work with your key as long as it’s in the keygina.

Threads like this start up the mod monster inside me. I've done a whole bunch of mods but push start and keyless entry had been one I've wanted to do for a while. Might follow through if this thread kicks out some DIY info.

This is not true they are different keys I know this for a fact. The dealer confirmed this for me and you can tell when you search for keys on ebay some will say with comfort access and some say without. I guess I could be wrong but I am certain of this i remember reading a thread back when David and Stubeck were around when they did this retrofit and they tried using the same keys and it didn't work.

That first part is true depending on vehicle some bcms are advanced key ready.

All keys do need to be changed. If you take your keys part number and put it in etka, it’ll say it’s been superseded.
It hasn’t, Audi has just made all replacements advanced keys so the superseded number is the advanced key pn.

Honestly this is an easy one it’s just painful to wire due to the trim pieces that need removal. I’d check first your bcm, see if it’s advanced key ready.

The bcm2s are cheap about 100 some for less some a little above.. I'll post up a parts list to the original post in this thread. To help everyone who wants to do this make some.progress and start gathering parts.

Also I have an extra antenna if anyone needs one I ordered 5 thinking I needed on for the trunk I may not even need for but now I know I don't need 5 so if anyone wants one of my antennas pm me and I'll give u a deal on it.

Not all keys need to be changed! You just need to get a new key and l pair that one with the bcm but, this is important, when you pair a new key, ALL the old keys will be lost from the BCM memory so you have to "pair" them again. You are going to do this at the dealership anyway so when you do it, make sure you have all the old keys with you.

If the BCM needs to be changed and the new one has a different frequency(there are ~400 and ~800 mhz, these are not exact numbers), things might get more complicated at this point.

Yeah that's probably the best thing to do and I am considering selling my car, parting out all the stuff I have. I really want a d3 or d4. But for some.people it's easier to buy parts than it is to sell their car and buy another one.

Thanks there's quite a bit of info there,

So I am.guessing if you.order the wiring harness of ali then you don't need to order any of these other wires or plugs shown on the parts list.

My parts list is identical to the one in that thread for the A5.

But I have still not gotten anywhere further on the key because I don't want a 3 button. I want a 4 button key fob 868mhz but I just need to know if it needs to have the same fcc ID as my original key. I don't see that Info anywhere i am guessing it doesnt? Honestly haven't a clue

I just ordered the harness from Ali I'll let you guys know on the quality. It had good reviews.

Does anyone want me to copy the DIY from the A5 to the original post so we can compile all the info in one place I think it would help make progress gathering all info we need to do this. I could try transferring all the pics to but it's gonna prob take a bit, I'll only do it if people want me to.

I support the compilation theead. I hated having to dig through drive.ru forums just to get my retrofit answers.

The harness is something that will immensely cut this project in half as the most time consuming part was making your own wiring loom and adding plugs and such so I hope that works out for you

No prob, Ali express has a harness though. And i just ordered one although my order got messed up i might have to put one in again which is gonna delay it, it was 86 with the 4$ coupon from Ali. But i think if the harness works out that will cut down on the cost and you shouldnt need most of those plugs and wires. We won't know for sure until someone get a harness and checks but from the picture of the harness I can tell some of those parts on that list won't be needed.

Thread updates with DIY from the A5.
It's a bit confusing cuz the translation was far from.perfect but I did my best and I think there's enough info here to get this done.

Remember not all the parts quantity will be the same.a sedan obviously needs 4 door sensors and plugs for the harnesses

    AND,
A lot of these parts and directions in this DIY will change having the harness from Ali it will be a lot easier.

AND the coding might not work, someone else that knows.more about coding can confirm this.

I really thinking having the harness from Ali will help a LOT. And cut out a LOT of steps and parts from this DIY, I w/o t know for sure until I get the harness but I am.guessing you won't need any of the wiring or plugs listed.

Also B8 dude I sent you a.pm asking if you could delete your first post so the thread flows better I know you can't delete the post entirely but at least just remove the text would help it look better. Thanks

Hope this information helps anyone looking to do this.

So yeah. Im trying to do this rn. Have the car apart. Have all the bits except for the keys. It seems like the AliExpress harness has a single wire to the front doors and 3 wires to each rear door. Do you think the antennas go in the rear doors for sedans? Doesn't make sense in my head..... Also I'm pretty sure I need 4 antennas for a Sedan (2 doors, centre, and trunk). Also just retrofitted mmi 3g+ and homelink FWIW. May post some write-ups / pictures eventually.

EDIT UPDATE. - Fist of all should have mentioned B8 S4

    Second of all:
According to FSM left Access / Start Authorization Antenna is located in the left rear door.

No mention of anything in the right door. Just trunk and center console

Perhaps the Ali harness has both depending on LHD RHD? Or maybe I need 4.

Here’s a thread with videos of the door installs on a b8 if you use the term “KESSY” in your googling it gets you better returns.

The Ali harness uses 4, but not being a oem harness not sure why it's different but the car only needs 3 according to ELSA, I plan to connect all 4 using the harness. I'm sure more antennas are better.

Yes the oem.placement is in the rear door but you can mount it in the front door if you want assuming the harness reaches prettt sure it does. Proper placement would be trunk, both front doors and center console.

Just finished the install. It's both rear doors actually. I'm missing my trunk one now as I bought three and figured the trunk would be the easiest to install after.

Updated the coding and can turn the car off with the button, when I try to start with the button it says ' convenience key defective, use ignition lock. ' guess now all I have to do is get new keys and have them coded at the dealership. I sincerely dread going there though so who knows when that will happen.

FWIW there are two wires in the centre console of the AliExpress harness - grey and brown. I grounded the brown and and ran the grey one to switched power. (white wire on the white connector below cupholders). The writeup says to send it to the black connector on bcm1 under the dash. May rectify that later but will have to find a pin for the connector, can anyone confirm that wires function? If there will be any detrimental effects. I truly believe it's just for illumination.

Also I still need to buy magnets for the handle nubs. I can't justify spending 40$+ on magnets so I may try and make my own. Can anyone chime in on their purpose too?

I sent you a pm I might have an extra set of keys depending on what frequency your bcm2 is. Pm me if your interested.

I figured as much lol. Here's a bunch of pictures that may help people in the future.

I'll update as I sort more things out.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-PC...460.0.0.ZpnrMM

Wondering about this key. It says it comes with key blanks and I'm pretty sure it does / just isn't pictured for copyright reasons. (have you tried searching for grilles lately lol) Figured it would be easier than trying to get the guys at the dealership to order one. (plus I hate giving them my money - to the point where I'd actually rather give it to a random in Asia).

Entire harness (pretend the floors a car. Thats how the harness is laid out)

    Rear Door Harness

Aliexpress handless who knows if they work. For the price I'll be the guinea pig.

Rear door harness installed I grounded the brown wire to the big brown wire on the door module as I couldn't find a proper ground without fucking shit up.

Door Side plug It doesnt look like it but the thing slides out allowing you to pop the pin in and lock it.

    Door Connector

    Angry Car

    Hope this helps.
