    Fuel Economy in a 3.0T

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been looking to get an 09-11 Avant. However I may start commuting farther to work. Are there any tunes that allow me to have Stage 1 or 2 power but will also give me an economy tune. I don't mind a cut in power to accomplish this.

As far as I am aware, the 09-11 C6A6 did not have the “efficiency” program. I have an 09 C6A6 that is stage II tuned. I drive a combination of city and highway in my commute and day to day travels. I am averaging about 21 mpg. When I travel freeway only (road trips) mpg climbs to 25. Best I ever got was 28mpg. Oh and it should be noted that I drive a bit faster than posted speed limits.

I get about 15-18 City MPG in the other "Sin City" of San Francisco, as there are lots of steep hills to deal with here in Pacific Heights, and surrounding areas. On our Southwestern Family Road Trip last summer, we got 28 MPG on the Freeway, -and that was averaging around a dime over the posted speed on the Interstate Freeways! (Most were 70MPH & some were 80MPH!) -And the C6 3.0T Quattro STILL got that great mileage! The car "loves to run" and it's obviously made of for the Autobahn 🛣, as it is very stable and quiet at speed, too. The Amazon thing is that the car is a 2-ton athlete that is very fuel efficient and luxuriously comfortable, yet sporty and powerful. I think it is a great combination that makes for a great car! So if you are on the fence about getting one, go test drive a few, find one well taken care of, then get a repair warranty for peace of mind, -and then go for it! After 21 months and almost 20,000 miles later, we are still in love with ours!

Thanks guys. I have a 30-40 minute commute. 95% highway interstate. I currently do it in my 05 Sequoia that I love but is npt very practical or efficient. Since we bought a mini-van I could probably count on one hand how many times both car seats have been in it. I like the A6 Avant idea for a comfortable commute plus enough room for every one if needed. The 02 A4 Avant was just a little tight with car seats.

Wife's commute is 80% highway, 10% twisty side road, and 10% city side roads. 23-25 mpg average. Road trips average between 21 (bikes on the roof, headwind) to 28 (even with a ski box on the roof, and loaded with 4 people going over mountain passes). Stock tune. As others have mentioned, it's a great long haul car. It's juuuust short enough that we can't sleep in it though, for those quick hitter weekend trips. They don't do the 3rd row seating like in the UrS6 avants...but the cargo area is bigger than any competitor we looked at, namely Subaru or BMW.

The aftermarket is finally giving that first gen Sequoia some love. Guy at the fire station near my office has a black one with a mild lift, tires, and bumpers - they are a great overlander/mild offroader especially if you are hauling people and/or gear. Just about as capable as the UZJ100s. Plus the 2UZ will run forever. A german avant + japanese 4x4 is a great combo.
