Restless RS5 Build Thread

Hi all,

I wanted to start a build thread to keep a log of and share the mods I am doing to my Sepang blue RS5.

Initial Stock (Xpel + Paint Correction + Gtechniq Ceramic coating)




1st Mod (Maxton Design - gloss black front lip + side skirts)




2nd Mod (1SEC Carbon - carbon fiber diffuser)

Next mods that I am looking at for the coming year:
- 1SEC Carbon/ECStuning carbon fiber mirrors
- ECS tuning carbon fiber spoiler
- (Maybe) Eventuri Intake
- (Maybe) AWE non-res downpipes

Update:
Installed AWE non-res downpipes yesterday :D Will have sound clips as soon as I get some nice weather.
Now just looking for an Eventuri intake...

Next mods that I am looking at for the coming year:
- (Maybe) Eventuri Intake (Maybe -> Need)
- AWE non-res downpipes (Maybe -> done XD)
- 1SEC Carbon/ECStuning carbon fiber mirrors (bought from CarbonImports but it needs to be installed)
- ECS tuning carbon fiber spoiler (maybe)

I was thinking about getting the Armaspeed intake as well, how are you liking it? How is the quality and fitment? Have you noticed any additional power/sound?

Yet another question on the Armaspeed...do they pretty much look like the OEM intake but just out of carbon fiber? Are they using a cone or OEM panel filter?

Looks to be a cone setup although it doesn’t look closed from this picture.

I'm liking it a lot. You get some more engine noises but besides that I dont really notice any additional power. Definitely feels a bit more responsive. Quality is fantastic - the carbon fiber is nice and glossy, i just hope it doesnt yellow in the future but will keep this thread updated if it does. Fitment could be slightly better but for the cost I think it is perfectly fine. It fits well and installation was easy for the most part. Definitely get the ECS lock tool - its $60-70 but it it made removing the vacuum tube lock easy. You could also cut part of the lock and not have to purchase the tool but I didnt want to do any cuts.

Any reason why you did 20x9 with 265 tires instead of the usual 20x10.5 and 285

I got them second hand and for a pretty good deal. 10.5 would be nice but I didn't want to spend the extra $$$. I got wheels and tires for the cost of just the rims brand new.

I believe it's the same, if not similar, kit; the brand is Morimoto. I did some additional stuff like paint the inner housing (chrome bits and what not) and replace the amber corner with a carbon fiber piece.

Updates since its been a while

- Capristo Res Exhaust (done)
- ECS Tru Float Rotors and Hawk 5.0 brake pads (front and back - done)
- RS5 Seat emblems for some pop (I make these, check out my IG account or DM me if interested)

Some issues:

- Rear differential failure (46k miles)
- Thermostat malfunctioning (49k miles)

One of the best things you can do to this car hands down. The screaming at 6000+ RPM is intoxicating

@xxxaudixxx Hey man just curious about your diff failing, was it after it had been serviced that it failed? I've seen a few posts on here now about diffs failing after they had been serviced, some even by Audi

Mine was serviced at 30k and it failed at 46k. Theres a whole thread about rear differential failure on here but I don't have the link atm

How are you finding the volume? I'm getting my non res fitted next weekend, and was advised by capristo themselves to get non res as they feared i'd be underwhelmed by the resonated verison's sound!
