Question "US Federal Certification Label"... where at?

for the US folks, could one of you guys locate the "US Federal Certification Label"?

the DMV seems to think it should be somewhere on a metalic plate or on some kind of "OEM" label... it might be located in the engine bay... we checked there as well as the doors but didn't find any such label...

it should state something along the lines of "vehicle complies with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (US FMVSS)"...

i'm just wondering if only the US bond Audi's have that... knowing where you guys have that label at will allow me to check for it on mine... TIA!

i thought it was on the inside of the driver side door, maybe yours doesnt have it since its not technically US spec, and you have kph gauges?

You are correct. I just checked my car and it's at the base of the billar structure inside the driver's door. It's a silver sticker that says the car conforms to US Motor Vehicle Standards at the time of manufacture.

i do but i got a set of MPH gauges from BlackCatCustom... at least now i know what speed i'm actually doing...

Also, in California you'll prolly need to have this sticker which is the EPA emissions sticker. It's located on the hood. My understanding is that it does not need to say "meets California" standards but does need to say it meets "Federal EPA" standards.

You can see the details here - http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/NonCAVeh/NonCAVeh.doc

    10 years necro!

Does anybody here have a European spec Audi from the early 00's and can you confirm if they routinely had the US Federal DOT/EPA stickers applied despite being manufactured for foreign use?

Given the strength of the dollar against the euro, and my success importing a 25+year TVR last year, i quite like the idea of looking into bringing over a manual shift D2 S8 (i know this forum is B6 A4, be gentle) and trying to get that in if they already comply.

I'm just curious about the compliance stickers, not importing procedure etc. Thanks!
