What is this piece behind the front door speakers?

Please tell me this is what is preventing my stereo from going any louder than what it currently does. I mean, I can turn it up fairly loud, but sometimes driving on the highway with the windows down, I would like it pretty loud. I was thinking maybe there is some sort of senor and wire buried underneath that plastic. It damn near rests on the top portion of the inner speaker grill (yes, there is an outer grill that you see, and in inner grill directly attached to the speaker housing.

I just finished replacing all my door speakers and didn’t see anything of the sort. Do you have B&O?

Only thing I can think of is turning off your GALA setting - which adjusts the volume based on your speed.

I would imagine the volume is limited by the amp output and nothing more. Likely factory defined to prevent distortion and speaker damage.
