In case you missed it, Alpine has introduced a 2nd generation head unit specifically designed to integrate with the A4 systems. Here's a link to the description page:

    X702D-A4

It's currently available from the same sources that sold the X701D-A4. I'm amazed that Alpine hasn't introduced a similar model aimed at the U.S. market.

I already have emails out looking for a supplier so I can sell from the US. Shoot me an Email (not PM) in you're interested. Christian@enfig.com I'll reply as soon as I have pricing.

EDIT: Since there is very little interest I will only be selling these with an installation at my shop until there is more interest.

What is an optical car? I just bought a non-nav 2015 S4. Will the X702D-A4 work on my car?

That all depends on which sound system you have in the car. The basic system (i.e., Audi Concert) can be replaced with the Alpine head unit. The more advanced systems (i.e., B&O and I believe there's one more system they offer) use an optical interface between the head unit and the amp for cleaner sound and can't be replaced by the Alpine.

I'm almost positive non-nav = non-optical. You can definitrly have b&o without optical. Open your left trunk door and see what's going into the amp, is it an optical cable or a wiring harness.

Oh, and even if you do have optical, I can't think of why replacing the amp wouldn't solve your problems, but you may want to confirm with Alpine Europe about that.

If anyone is interested I can get the main unit for $2000 and offer a one year warranty from date of delivery to you. I still have to price out the rest of the parts but I think that's a fair price to buy from a US seller with US car support.

If anyone has questions about the fiber or lack of fiber in their cars just give me your vin number and I will try to give you some answers.

This is brilliant. Has the GPS/maps been adapted for North American? I assume so, based on the X701D, but has anyone actually done it?

I just installed the x702 in my B8 with Symp sound. It came with a fully wired harness to plug directly from the radio to the car quadlock and there is a jumper that plugs into the CAN. It was pretty straight forward but you need to make sure you get the extra wire KWE-BO1AU as the radio speaker output is too high for the factory amp input.. As KWDBC stated you can grab the NA maps from the Navi website for like $80. Only issue i am having right now is when I check the Oil it comes back with n/a, not sure what I can or need to do about that.

If you opened the hood recently it takes awhile before the oil indicator comes back up. Happened with standard OEM deck as well.

Does any of the free map stuff for europe work for maps in the US?
