    Must have S7 Options?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am debating selling my A6 Prestige for an S7. I know everyones tastes differ but what are must have options when searching for a CPO car?

    I want:
    Black or Ibis
    Black Optic
    Driver Assistance
    Night Vision

I'd like Bang & Olufson but it seems to be a rare option as with Alcantara headliner.

I have a 2013 S7 with the comfort seats. Though I like the massage function, I just wish it had the sport seats with diamond stitching. Totally changes the look of the interior. I have night vision which is a total waste. I have the Bose system and not the B&O. I came from an RS5 that had the B&O and I can't tell you enough how sorry I am that I bought the S7 without B&O. The Bose to me sounds awful. I should've held out and found one with B&O.

I am also very disappointed in the Bose system in my 2016 S7. The Bose in my wifes 2016 escalade, and even the Bose in my old B6 S4 were better. I've never heard the B&O in person... couldn't justify the option price in my case.

night vision sucks and is not worth it. i have turned it one like twice.

unless you plan to replace the whole sound system, the B&O sounds so much better esp with an easy sub woofer replacement. If you sit in a Bose and then move to a B&O, you will immediately hear the difference. If it's CPO, the depreciation is already there. Just hunt for one with B&O.

I use night vision when I'm driving on non-lit roads and I love it, especially with all the deer that have been coming out lately. But its not like I always have it on, only when needed like the rear fogs.

I would add the self-closing doors. I have it on my '16 S7 and like it very much.

Yes, we have a ton of deer here which is why I want it.

What does the sport package add on the S7? I didn't know that was a stand alone option.

    Most S7's don't have the B&O, I'd say 20% maybe.

I think the HUD is a must. A barely look down at the instrument cluster now. Not sure what package it comes with now, but back in 2013, is was part of the Innovation or Driver Assistance Package.

While I have Night Vision, I would never check that option box if I bought new.

I have the Bose, never heard the B&O. It's decent, but the B&O is pricey and rather rare to find. Unless you are a true audiophile, I'm not sure if finding a car without it is a deal breaker. You're choice.

Sport package adds the sport exhaust, sport differential, sport seats, and from 2017 forward, red brake calipers. I may be forgetting other additions.

If you can find one with B&O, great. Otherwise, if audiophile quality is your thing, you can build a system as good if not better than the B&O system for less than what Audi charges for the factory option. On the Bose system, a simple amplifier/line converter/subwoofer addition is relatively inexpensive and makes a world of difference.

Unless you stare at your headliner often, I imagine money can be better spent on options other than the alcantera headliner.

Seems these S7's with sport package and lowish miles are running $60Kish, I can get a well optioned CPO RS7 for 77k. LOL HMMMM

Brake mainteance is way worse on the RS7's though I heard.

Seems full LED headlights don't come standard on the S7 either? Found a nice one that has EVERYTHING but the damn sport package.

I believe they come standard with the prestige model, but are an option for the premium plus.

Some packages will be hard to find over others. As someone who recently purchased a CPO S7, condition was by far more important over options.

You will find S7s with options out there.

Innovation with Night Vision, Soft close doors, and B&O have been the options that have been the least popular. Sport and Black Optic packages would be the next least popular. You are more likely to find Sport package on a CPO trade in over a lease return.

Commonly found options include LED headlamps, Drivers assistance, Cold weather (depending on location) and 20” wheel options.

Certain Model Year Prestige models may have Sport Package included in it.

    Edit:
Just checked my sticker, and 2014 S7s came standard with Sports rear differential.

    Hope that helps

Forewarning, I have the S6, not S7. It's my DD (~25k miles/yr) and hasn't been to the track. I think a lot depends on personal preference & intended use, but here's my $0.02:

I have ACC and I wouldn't want another car without it. I use it almost all the time, both for the convenience and safety. Every time that some bonehead does something that seems like they are trying to kill me (sudden lane change, run red light, pull out without looking, panic stop because there is a deer on the side of the road, etc), the ACC beats me to the brakes every time. I believe it was part of the Driver Assistance package & Innovation package, depending on year.

I like the comfort seats. I sweat a lot & run the ventilated seats almost year round. Audi's not as good as some others, but still I wouldn't want a car without it. When I got it, I thought the massage functions were a gimmick, but turns out I use them daily - reduces stiffness especially on longer drives.

I briefly drove a BMW with HUD and do miss it a little. I believe depending on year, was part of the Innovation package as was the night vision.

I think the LED headlights are worth searching for.

I have the Bose, which isn't great, but frankly if I'm looking for great audio, I don't go to a car. B&O in cars I test drove was definitely better. I'm considering doing the subwoofer mod others have mentioned.

Google for "Audi order guide" for the model year was a big help to me in comparing what package/option I needed to get what I was looking for back when I was shopping. Of course, there were fewer C7 model years available back then ;)

    Good luck!

    I stare at mine often

In seriousness, it does include the A and B pillars as well. The visors are a neat touch too. I don't regret it at all, adds a lot to the aesthetics IMO

You're going to get a ton of personal opinions here that may be difficult to wade through, but, the more the merrier so here's mine:

    - I really like having the HUD, especially with lap timer -- it's nice to get speed, oil temp and gear all on your windshield
    - I only have bose and am not sophisticated enough to benefit from the increased cost of B&O. That said, I did the sub upgrade on my bose and it is way better that before. I'm sure it's sub-par by audiophile specs, but works very well for me
    - I have and really like black optics
    - I have really like soft close doors, but this is probably not something you'd miss tremendously if you didnt have them.
    - I do not have ACC, night vision, etc. Don't miss them either, but I probably dont know what i'm missing and whether they are any good.
    - I don't have alcantera headliner, but if I found it on a used model I'd be all over because I tend to agree with others, you don't really pay for it if buying CPO.

I would get the following (in order of desirability, at least for me):

    1. Sports Package (has the sports differential, black exhaust tips and and red brake calipers, etc.)
    2. Black Optics (removes the chrome)
    3. Driver Assist Package (adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist are nice for freeway commuting, plus the pre-sense plus safety feature)
4/5. Prestige (for HUD) and/or Black alcantara (it's awesome, totally changes how the interior looks, I love it)
    6. Carbon atlas or carbon red interior (another awesome add on that I'm glad I got)

    I would skip:

    1. Comfort seats
    2. Night vision
    3. B&O
    4. Cold weather (so you get the flat-bottom steering wheel)

Couple things i have noticed as i have done a few retrofits to my car:
    1. Side assist is a must
    2. 360 deg cameras- 100% needed
    3. soft close doors are great. All the family know they are there and simply put the door on the latch and let the door close itself. No more slamming doors
    4. Sports seats are great. Not uncomfortable at all and imo much better then the standard S line seats
    5. HUD is very useful. I dont drive in unlit areas so would probably find the night vision useless. ACC? Hmm Dont have it but will give it some thought about fitting it
    6. Alcantara- Ohhh yesss. part way through the retrofit on this but what an incredible feeling it gives inside the car. Feels like it lifts the car into another executive level.

Yea, finding every option is going to be tough. Seems the sport package is the wildcard as well. TONS of S7's do not have them.

What package did the leather dash come with?

I may be mis-remembering, but I thought pre-facelift s7's had the sport package components standard, and then it became an option on the c7.5 (you'll want to verify whether that is true).

The leather dash comes with the "sink your kid's college fund into your project car" package! In all seriousness, there may be multiple ways but I did it through TAG and neidfaktor. Not cheap, but I plan on keeping the car a long time and I really disliked the plastic so it was worth it for me.

    1. Sports package
    2. Stick to standard sport seats not comfort- but this is personal preference for which is more comfy. I am slender so I liked sport and love the diamond stitching
    3. B&O- if you had a car with it, you will hate Bose. My last car was an A8 with 23 speaker B&O. It was amazing- way better than even the B&O that Audi puts into less expensive and smaller models. The Bose in my S6 stinks.

Save the rest of your money for tires, Milltek/Awe exhaust, track days.

Or since we can all afford it, buy special sunglasses for driving. I went with a set of Serengeti Drivers (NOT polarized) for the HUD reason alone. Gorgeous sunglasses and I can see the HUD no matter what!

I agree and you will probably see the b&o is rare I have BOSE in my s7 and it blows ! I’m buying a 2018 s6 and because I don’t want black or Daytona gray cars the b&o is costing me over 10k ! Because the car I settled on has Alcantara headliner , night vision neither I care for but b&o and sport package is a must also love my driver assistance . Don’t settle for BOSE like some of us did it’s not worth it.

My A6 3.0t has the bose, it's OK but it's no B&O. I had an M6 with the B&O and it was the best sounding stereo I've ever heard stock.

I must not be an audiophile at all because I don't think the Bose is that bad

Has anyone mentioned the Arris Red interior? I have it along with all the others mentioned (sans night vision). The red interior is the one thing people, including myself, really notice first and love. I had not set out to find one with it, but I'm so glad I have it now. Second on the list is the sport package.

    I want:
    Black or Ibis
    Black Optic
    Driver Assistance
    Night Vision

I'd like Bang & Olufson but it seems to be a rare option as with Alcantara headliner.
Sport package and black optics, these are must be for this car.

Maybe, you've never been in a C7 with an Alcantara headliner, but it's special. It just elevates the interior of the car completely. You need to get in one to understand. I first thought I wanted just the black cloth, since my A5 has it. but when I saw the opportunity to get the Alcantara, I couldn't look the other way.

When I bought my S7, I was actually hunting for an RS7. I couldn't find the one I wanted. I ended up getting the S7 because the one I found is basically an RS7 minus 100 HP. My must haves were Sepang Blue, B&O, Sport Package, and Black Optics. Some ancillary options that came on the one I found were 21" RS7 wheels, night vision, driver assist, carbon atlas inlays, and power closing doors. I bought it CPO. When I ran the VIN and tracked down the window sticker, it turned out to be over 100K. I was surprised. I am very happy with the car. I think it was the right time for an S7 for me. If I spent the extra money for an RS7, and then Audi released the new one with the technology package, I would have regretted it I think. Now, when I am done with the S7 in a few years, the 2019 RS7 will be in CPO.

I just joined the family taking advantage of the $15k incentive and end of year “urgency”. Hopefully, that incentive carries through on remaining 2018s into this year. I second the sport package. Also have black optics, driver assistance, and cold weather. Bose stereo sounds great to me. Doubt you’d get the value back from B&O on resale.
