Hi Daniel, would you recommend not using the noise isolator when installing then? I have a 2009 concert/symphoni with no AMI. Should I leave out the noise isolator and get a shielded cable instead then?

I have no isolator and no shielded cable. I clipped out the ami slot and bring it right behind rsnav. From there i have a short 10cm ami aux adapter direct to rsnav.
No problems with noises or something else

The noise isolator is like failsafe.
Every audi is different in terms of noise issue and we made the noise isolator default as safety net - still some people don't figure it out... sigh.

    Let's say,
RSNAV is brain, CANBUS is large blood pipe, and Serial com as individual nerves.

To MMI control, everything is communicated through blood system(Brain - large blood pipe).
But concert radio buttons are like individual nerves and they are not directly connected to blood system.
You need additional converters to make it work.

That's why we or any mfg can't support the buttons easily without any additional hardware but CANBUS decoder.

Why don't you put this info in installation manual or in wiki.?

After struggle and so many questions, you simply now say to bypass noise isolator and use a shielded cable.

Its really pain in the ass to replace that cable now in 8.8 inch Installation.

    Its really bad.

I got the cable about a month ago.
I thought there is no alternative in terms of noise preventing but who knows a canadian firm makes a nice aux cable? Also, for the bass, I realized after I replace the cable.

Try again.... Daniel: Do you have a answer?

The question about the echo background some posts before is also open. The echo was before implementing center speaker. And now this feature should be the reason for echo?

I also wrote you a email about a screw cover spare part. Is this possible? I broke one as i removed the noise isolator. Now i had to unplug the rsnav again to Connect the both center speaker cables.. this wasnt in the first manual too.

I downloaded and installed M8.1.0.1.11302002 (I have the 1.0 HW version 10.25"). I can confirm the same results as Pauven, temperature display is not quite right for F:

Also, on the home screen, the new panel that shows speed and seatbelt/door status doesn't seem to have any configuration that I can find. It only shows speed in kph. Is there a way to configure that for mph?

Well Daniel , I really and heartfully appreciate your efforts and dedication to improve this product.
In fact this is the only reason why I choose RSNAV and not any other cheap stuff available in internet. No question about it.

But thinking from customer point of view, I atleast feel that am running for the information. Some information we get only after we post specific questions. My point is such useful info why do you update in website or wiki, so that it is useful for everyone and also new users.

Just for example, I bought my device 3 months back. I bought the reverse camera with filter. No where in website it is mentioned that filter is not needed anymore. When I seach through the forum, in the beginning of the year you mentioned that filter is no longer needed atleast on automatic drive cars.

Please take this only as a constructive feedback. At the end I am quite happy with RSNav in my car.

I use no cable. Just the ami adapter. If you have ami, then bring the slot behind the rsnav. It works great.

Then follow the cable under the armrest and bring the aux slot behind the rsnav. Then use just a 10cm cable or so.

Interesting idea, so you would try to loosen the original wiring and bring it back up into the dash panels? I'm in the middle of my installation, and I've removed the entire center console to get the output wire to the AUX in the arm rest. Im definitely not to happy about having the connect several wires over a long distance in terms of signal quality (rsnav - noise isolator - extention cable - AUX plug in arm rest - speakers). A more simple solution would be preferable.

@andrap you got the same setup it seems, what is your experience with the sound quality?

Jep. Ive done it so with ami. Simple, clean, and no unnessacary cables. But its more effort.

Another idea if you use aux and are affine: make your own wiring direct from quadlock behind radio/mmi ( B - green block). Use a good isolated and drilled cable.image-6216697438509679123.jpg

Ya, I have the same setup (RSNAv - noise isolator - extention cable from rsnav - aux under arm rest with good quality male to male aux cable)

From quality point of view, for sure there is no noise. But most of the bass is lost. There is almost no bass coming out.

Thats the reason why am looking to bypass the noise isolator with the shielded aux cable.

What kind of cable is that? Is that to connect directly to the AUX wire without using male - female connection?

From your radio/mmi quadlock goes one cable to your armest. If you remove this block (B) out of quadlock and insert your own (see picture of cable -but better make a isolated/shielded by your own) you can go direct to rsnav without removing the original aux cable under the middle console/armrest or using it. So you dont use unnessacary connects under armrest and noise isolator.

Direct ways are always better then many connections.

@Daniel: maybe you can insert such an build in future cables. With your quad lock extension it should be possible.

    Very interesting. For someone like me, who's new to most of this, could you tell me what this kind of cable is called? So I can try to find one that would suit the purpose. I'm not so concerned about running the cables below the center console, but rather ;

1: the loss of bass using the noise isolator
2: the quality of my AUX female plug in the arm rest, I always thought that quality and connection stability has been poor using the AUX port. I'm afraid the port isn't very good.

So I'm looking for some way to avoid using the port, the manual says NOT to cut into the wires however.

The bass loss is one most think that I never understood with RSNAV and till I listed music as opera. Is necessary to bypass filter to have original sound or just have direct link with aux?

BTW, once you're there just swap the block (B) for the green one of an AMI cable and then you're out of a problem... just plug-in the AMI adapter and no more aux cable/extension issue...

Thanks to whoever pointed out the quadlock to 3.5mm harness. I've ordered one, see how it goes in the next few weeks when it arrives!

EDIT: Thought I'd clarify, I'm 95% certain that the interference comes to my car via the Aux port in the arm-rest. Even before I had the RSNav unit, I always had a high pitched whine through it. Bypassing that via the headunit itself should solve this problem.

If you have play/pause randomly triggered while using steering wheel buttons in CarPlay, Android Auto, or Google Music, please try update MCU file to the latest one on the wiki(1207).

CHECK MCU VERSION NUMBER FROM SOFTWARE VERSION INFORMATION FIRST IN YOUR WORKING RSNAV DEVICE.
DO NOT UPDATE WRONG MCU FILE, OTHERWISE, IT WILL BE HARDBRICKED.
DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY HARDWARE RELATED ISSUE.

DO NOT UPDATE WRONG MCU FILE, OTHERWISE, IT WILL BE HARDBRICKED.
DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY HARDWARE RELATED ISSUE.
    Updated the 3 files y'day...
Everything went fine but I've been having issues with the center console control panel not behaving correctly (getting stuck, delayed clicks and non-reactive buttons) and hoped that flashing the MCU would solve these but no luck...

So you guys have BNAV or HNAV right?
It only happens to those and I think I need to rent pre FL cars and check the baudrate settings again...

Did you replace the control panel as well? Canbus gateway too? I knew you were on BNAV.

Anyway, I updated to 11231825, and while it is much better, the temperature still isn't right. The amount of the variance varies based upon the temperature being set, so here are some test points:

    Audi | RSNav
    ---------------
    HI | HI (matches)
    84 | 79 (5 degrees low)
    73 | 70 (3 degrees low)
    64 | 63 (1 degree low)
    62 | LOW (mismatch)
    LOW| 63 (mismatch)

Also, when I do the seat warmer (0-6), the RSNav shows the current temperature setting (i.e. 70 degrees). Fan speed and vent options look perfect.

AZ Member stevent76 is a friend of mine, and this weekend I got to check out his install. He has the exact same issue described above, where the temperature shown in Fahrenheit doesn't match the car's climate control display, it is off by a few degrees. He has a 2015 B8.5 S4 with the HN+, while I have the 2012 B8 S4 with the HNav.

Also, I was surprised to see that his engine RPM and vehicle speed (on the Car Info screen) work. Mine doesn't work, and I had assumed that I needed an OBDII reader to get that info. The seatbelt and door open info both work fine on my car, but the speed and RPM are always 0. I have updated to the latest Android System Software for my unit (M8.q5.1.0.1.11231825) and reapplied the latest CAN BUS version (2018-06-03,V201). I had carefully checked for escaped wires during the install, so I don't think that is the issue, but I'm open to any ideas. stevent76 is running the same Android System Software version, but he has the latest CAN BUS V119 since he has HN+, so I'm wondering if this is an issue just with the V201 CAN BUS firmware.

If we can get the car speed to work in my car, I have the same request as stevent76. Here in the USA, MPH is standard. We can't seem to find a setting to change this.

    Thanks,
    Paul
