I'm pretty sure there is now a box you can check on the product page about if you have the Airbag light on the hazard button or not. Did you check it when ordering your unit?

As of right now, I can stream audio from my phone via Tune2Air, so that part is working. I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to enable AUX on the concert radio though. I do have OBDEleven, but can anyone (please) shed some light on what I need to enable? Thanks in advance.

What rsnav version do you have?

Version S1 has 3 subversions, HW1, HW2, and HW3. In HW1 rsnav outputs the audio via a jack cable and gets into the Audi infotainment system through the aux port. If you have that port occupied with your usb, you cannot have both.

S2 and S1 HW2 or HW3 output the audio through the harness, and in order to hear the music you have to activate the aux in the green menu, but for that you first need to use carista/obdeleven to maje the option appear in the green menu.

You can find all this in the wikipage of rsnav.

Another option, is to buy a cable ami-to-aux or something like this, but i don't know exactly how it works, but I know some have gone that route successfully.

This is a brand new S2 system, ordered in June: 10.25" 1920x720 HD Android 7.1.2 4GB/64GB S2 Navigation System for Audi B8 A4/S4/RS4/A5/S5/RS5/Q5/SQ5 - Left Hand Drive.

The thing is that I don't have an MMI system, so there is no green menu - from what I can tell with the non-MMI Audi Concert system. I did find an option in OBDEleven to enable the AUX port and it was already turned on, but I'm getting nothing from RSNAV. I ordered the AMI to 3.5MM dongle to see if that works (I'll swap the Tune2Air dongle out). Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing, but I didn't find any info about enabling the AUX port on a non-MMI system on the RSNAV wiki and I haven't gotten a response from Daniel to my email so far (but I just sent it this weekend).

Ok, for S2 I have no idea.

In the manual you have it on page 12.

But if you say it was already active, then I do not know.

One option is to try unactivating it, reboot concert, activate it and reboot again. Sometimes settings in audi need to be reset to be active.

Is your tune2air connected into the Aux? Then it is taking over the aux feed then instead of allowing the RSNAV to output the audio through AUX.

I would start with unplugging the tune2air module and see if when you select aux in the factory sound media, that the sounds from the RSNAV will come through.

I ordered an AMI to 3.5MM cable and I can now get audio from RSNAV. Now, however, here's an awful high pitched noise, almost sounds like a cell phone ringer with the audio from RSNAV. Maybe I ran my cables too close to the CANBUS gateway? There was a warning about that in the RSNAV installation instructions and I took care to avoid running the harness close. Could it be anything else?

Yes. Routing of the cable away from other cables that will introduce noise is very important. Ok. You will also need to pay attention to the output levels from the RSNAV, as well as the AUX input level in the concert radio.

    Adjusting those properly will help.

But most importantly, what version of RSNAV unit do you have? Since S1, HW3.0, the cable to plug into the AMI is not required.

Did you buy the unit used?

Uggghh.. I want one of these RSNAV’s so bad! Lol
Probably been answered a million times, but anyone know the price of the apple car play dongle is and is it absolutely necessary to have installed to be able to stream tunes from your iPhone?
    Thanks

It’s about 60 bucks and you don’t need it for music streaming. It’s only for CarPlay.

If that's all u want, then Mr12volt adapter is a muuuuuch cheaper way, and it works amazing, like it was done in the factory.

No ridiculous issues that I'm reading here, and way easier to install.

That too. Although I haven't tried it myself so I can't vouch for it as much as I can for this. It's just brilliant

For S1 owners (don't know if S2 has similar wiring or not) - have any of you had problems with the video connector? I've been having screen fizziness problems, and the reason seems to be the absolutely SHITTY build of the connector - they just threw some shitty wiring in it, and put some hot glue to hold it together, but if my eyesight is right, i think one of the wires is going, and that's what's causing the screen insanity (and when I fiddle it, it goes back to normal).

I'm thinking I want to try rebuilding this connector, but seeing as it's hot glued together, I don't think I can take it apart, so I think I need a whole new board + connector assembly... anyone know where I can source this from?

Did not have this problem, but it seems one of the pins/cables is being funny. Remove the glue wirh a screwdriver and pliers, bu be careful not to pull the cables. Then try to find the one(s) that is broken and either solder it back or replace the pins.

You can find all types of connectors in aliexpress. Maybe Daniel can tell you tbe exact type.

Hey guys looking for some help! Just got my s2 for 3g mmi HN and need a little wiring help! Got the unit to turn on an boot up great has sound but MMI and volume knob are dead. I’ve identified some possible solutions - issues. In the instructions it says to make sure to manually connect the plug with the 4 red wires to ensure MMI console works properly. Problem is I can’t find a wire to connect it to? I’m assuming this is the issue but.... another possibility is the black factory plug (pictured) that I can’t find a place to put it - but maybe it’s for the concert radio? Finally I can’t find anything to plug into the green circle and can’t remember if I unplugged anything. I know I know should have taken before pictures just so damn excited. The good news is it looks amazing and teleports the car I nto this century. Please help!

This may not be a relevant comment, but I ran into that with my 4F car: I had tapped into the wrong MMI harness plug, and my keyless entry and MMI controls were not working (and start/stop buttons). When I found one MUCH DEEPER inside, and tapped into the right connector, everything started working. It was really impossible to find, it was so deep inside the dash I didn't even know it existed.

You don’t have a 4F though so definitely wouldn’t have the same symptoms. But yeah worth a shot.

You know how sometimes you just have to step away? Yeah red 4 wire connector with its corresponding female right there. Presto mmi condole all worked.

Now the next question what’s up with the metric units and why is my drivers door represented as my passenger door when open?

Don’t really care though it’s pretty amazing. Now to put my dash back together.

I’ll bet you anything it’s set to UK as region.

Want to hear something funny? I have a LHD 4F in a RHD country and my MMI thinks the driver door is the passenger (so much so that when I had a “driver airbag error” (due to a recall) I was diagnosing the wrong side of the car :D

    Cars are stupid.

I’m not much ahead of my car.....

Not to be a noob but is there a noob section? Like how do you change the apps - everyone has a pic of their car in the menu and I have rsnav - I want a car! I want a clock! I want the right door to be open!

Still I can’t complain looks huge, bright CarPlay works great feels oem very pleased. $750 vs. a $3500 technology option pac from Audi or a $50,000 new car seems like a deal

Now for the 10 bolts holding my glovebox in.

Judging by the low amount of comments or complaints in this thread, rsnav s2 seems great.

    Well done Daniel. Congrats!

I have the S1 with HW3 and android 7 and cannot complain at all, works great too (i do not use sim card) but I have followed the thread and know that some people have had some issues. But S2 seems another story.

Yeah it looks like S2/S3 are much more stable. I hope there's an upgrade path some day...

I just ordered my S3. I had an Alibaba special in my B7 that worked pretty well, but I decided to get an actual RSNav for the B8. I'm hoping the S3 will have the kinks worked out...

Are there any input devices for RSNav that integrate with the gear shift surround? I have a non-Nav Concert version with now controls down there. I'd like a scroll dial/trackpad/something.

    Thanks.

    Instruction

    1. Download firmware file(Click here), and unzip the file.

    2. Copy can_update.bin to the root of TF card.

    3. Insert TF card to the slot of the device

    4. If MX Player launches, exit the program, push out the TF card and insert it again.

    5. When CANBUS update message is prompted, enter '888666' for the password.

    6. Wait until the device restart automatically. Do not interrupt. Maintain electricity power by running your motor idle. Do not operate the device or the vehicle.
    Hi,

I've been reading the forum for a while, but I'm new posting. I have RSNAV device since ending 2019 but I have had no time to update until now.

    There are the versions:

    System: M8.q5.1.0.1.08021632
    MCU: 7.3.0828
    CAN: Q5.V2.0.2.181226

    I have some problems:

    - One is with the CAN related to the dynamic parking guidelines, described in http://wiki.rsnav.com/Help:Software_Update. However, I don't find in the link the proper file to update the CANBUS. Seems the files are missing. The only directory with CAMBUS files is RSNAV S1 which seems to be discontinued, and the CANBUS file is from 6th July 2019 (previous to my device), anyone knows if there is any other update for the firmware?

    - Another point is related to the whole software update, the described procedure in http://wiki.rsnav.com/S2Update is not possible because the System menu, Software version information does not include update options. I would like to know if I could make the update renaming [20200820]S2-1920x720+MCU.zip to update.zip and copying in USB stick as seemed to be in previous versions.

    - I also have a problem with the Carplay dongle but I would like to fix the previous problems before.

Sorry if the questions are very basic, but I haven't seen the CANBUS file and the update procedure for this version.

    Thanks in advance!

I’m about to reconnect my battery and turn on the RSNAV S2 for the first time. The S2 appears to have a SIM card already installed. Does that need to stay in the unit for initial power up? I have a Verizon SIM card from a tablet. Is the Verizon data still not supported on RSNAV?

It took days, but I’ve read through the 99 pages of this thread. I don’t remember reading anything about a SIM card coming with the unit.

This is so stupid! I’m on week 3 of the RSNAV install. I just bought an AT&T prepaid data SIM card, and guess what? NOTHING! And the instructions aren’t helpful. I can’t get into MTK engineering mode (even with an app). This is never going to end!

    ???
S2 didn't offer any mobile connectivity in its advertisement because it's not a good modem for the states. It's only S3 that we advertise it works LTE bands in the states.

However people says that inadequate modem works in 3G, and 2G

MTK engineering is only for S1. It's Mediatek Engineering Mode. Surly it will not work on Qualcomm device.

By the way, for Qualcomm modem the bevelled edge going inward while the metal side facing the screen.

It came with an sd card - a KM 4g one. The slot loader is broke as it won’t accept the AT&T card that I just bought. Why did I rip apart my A pillar to install a cell antenna? And how am I supposed to get navigation? This was a mistake.

That's our test sim and usually not removed for dust cover purpose. It's designed to pop out if you push in. But yes, if you tried in wrong direction, pins will be upset.

I understand you are frustrated, but in the manual, it's talking about gps antenna, not cellular antenna.

You can use navigation with google offline maps or offline maps like sygic. You just connect to a wifi, download them and go.

If not you can use carplay(dongle required) or android auto.

I do understand that it's not what you think it would be, and that's why you are frustrated.

But even if advertised so, if you perform the setup carefully, you should at least have 3g connection with at&t.

It's rather too much as if we supplied something wrong because it's not working as you expected or you end up with sim card slot upset.

Remove existing sim card with pincet by pulling it out carefully. If sim card metal contacts are bent, then you need to find a cellphone repairer who can fix it for you.

Also, this is not a product support thread and i recommend you to email me to follow up.
