Sorry to hear it didn't fit right. I'm thinking of trying a non glare version if you can find one that fits. Be sure to update with your finds on the wiki here - http://wiki.rsnav.com/Add_ons
I posted up an improved GPS antenna, and so far it has been working great. No more jumps in Google Maps, and it was cheap.

And guys, don't forget to check and upate the wiki with bugs here - http://wiki.rsnav.com/Help%3AReporting_bugs . The airbag light and climate control have been covered quite a few times. Although the Carplay issue sounds like new one.

Cant we use the option in the hidden menu to keep the unit on after the car is turned off? Maybe that might solve the issue of the unit turning off on short in and out trips.

Yes, there are bugs, but this is because we are eager to get ahold of the devices in advance of any regular mainstream sales/users. Then again, can you think of any other larger company that is so active in working with their user community to continue to enhance and develop the product to keep improving. This feels much more like an open source product at this time. Active and continual improvement. I'm very happy with the hardware side of things, what remains is software development and bug finding. I'm good with helping in that area!

Bugs are relatively minor. Everything now works as oem. No cel. All the mmi buttons work. Have access to mmi menu. Having the android os opens up alot of options.

Any idea how to use the android auto dongle. I opened up the app on both the rsnav and phone. Shows usb connection on my phone but nothing happens.

Using hotspot currently, but having that android auto/carplay option would be nice for others that are in my car

Good call, I already have my MMI set to the 30 minute max and there are no problems with that area. It's when you get into the car from a cold start (like sitting all night) and just want to hear the radio and not start the car, you just push the ignition button, push the volume button and it used to power up the radio and screen. Now it still powers up but with no screen. If I go ahead and start the car then it powers up.

So went ahead and ordered some new screen protectors and used the custom size options since they don't charge extra for them. I went and ordered a Crystal Clear 9H again and a few of the MHX's (anti-glare 25% high def). I'll let everyone know when those arrive.

so i finally got mine installed today and loving it, but just have an issue - i cant get to the factory interface. i see the Audi Interface app icon, click it and it just has a black/blank screen, sometimes i see an 'Audi Navigation' logo on the right, but where the factory interface should show is just black. i tap on the blank screen and it takes me back to Android as normal.

is it possible there's something wrong with the install? i got it done at a shop and they said there werent any loose wires or anything else, i'm not sure if they missed a step or something on the wiring, but i basically dont get the audi interface to show. i thought the wiring was pretty straight forward so not sure if they messed up on it or what. any advice?

i also did not do the AUX vagcom mod yet so i dont have any audio which i expected, but i doubt thats preventing the factory interface from showing. everything else works fine though, heat settings show, volume from steering wheel works, reverse cam and lines work great, etc. so most everything else is working fine but just not the factory interface, in case that helps with anything. i feel like the wiring is all in place if all that works, just not sure why the audi interface isnt.

    i have a B8 2009, Symphony radio.

Dumb question, but is the "screen" for the factory sound system off?

which screen do you mean? if you mean the screen being active then it should as i was playing music off my SD and also clicked through settings and other buttons, so there was definitely activity that should've woken the screen.

i guess i will have to take it apart some and check the wiring or something. one thing i notice, it's just black but doesnt say 'No Input' like the aux1,2 options show, so is it maybe wired right just not showing for some other reason?

some background info, i did have some power issues recently and wouldnt be surprised if i blew a fuse somewhere, i did used to have an xcarlink unit and i had a small wire break on that and display was out so i thought it was just that wire and thought it would come back with this, but not sure now if it was that wire or something else. is there a fuse or something else that would affect the display only? is there a dedicated wire that would output that part while everything else works fine?

Make sure the thicker line on the rsnav screen is screwed in tight and that there arent any tight loops on the line. I noticed it being off for mine too, until i straightened up the line(not much room back there)and the mmi screen appeared.

I believe there is an option to turn the factory screen off (so the factory Audi app may seem off when it's really not) and everything else will work - like sound. I think the way to get it back is to push the power or volume button.

It seems I am losing the track of what's happening in this thread as well as replying to PM/E-mail.

I think I would have time to catch up all unanswered Q&As once I reach in Shanghai on this 19th.

    hi Daniel,

After stumbling onto this thread, my wife saw the pictures of the large touchscreen and this mod is "Wife Approved".

So before I place an order for a unit, I wanted to confirm this is what I am ordering:

    https://rsnav.com/products/pre-order...=3459774218280

My car is a 2012 A4 Avant S-Line with MMI 3G Basic. After reading all 12 pages, it appears I might have to do a firmware update to correct the signal issue for 3G Basic.

If anyone can confirm, I greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks!

    Hi

RSA-12305 is the correct one for your set-up (same as mine).
There are a few issues pending to be solved which personally I'm willing to live with such as the resolution that for now doesn't allow for the MMI interface to be displayed correctly...
The firmware update only restores power to the central console control panel that was disabled with the previous one.
If you know your MMI3G Basic well enough you can do most things even if you only see 1/2 of the MMI screen.
Everything is just a massive leap in terms of functionality thanks to android. And it's super fluid...
If I remember correctly Daniel might have put this unit on hold for BNav users (i.e. 3G Low) till the res problem is fixed but better check with Daniel for this.

10.25” Android head unit / display (RSNAV)

Ok. Those instructions are not for the RSNAV unit. The RSNAV unit is running Android 6, not 4.4. (At least I don’t recall seeing those instructions)

I recall Daniel emailing me an apk. I’ll look in my email to see what I can find.

Yup. Confirmed. I found the apk for the dongle. Pm me your email address and I’ll flip it to you.

If I don't care for the MMI functional visibility and would want to just use it for mainly Android auto or Apple CarPlay, would it still work? And I must purchase the mirroring license and the authorization dongle correct?

Thanks again to everyone as this thread has been helpful!

To be completely honest I'm not an apple guy so never paid any attention to ACP... and as for AA, having the android unit paired with a SIM card I can't think of anything I could do connecting my phone that I cannot do directly on the unit...

loving the unit so far, best mod/upgrade/whatever you wanna call it i've done. still have to find out why my factory interface doesn't show. but i was able to enable the aux and get this working fully now at least, i'm still enjoying it as is now.

    few things:

    1. is there a way to turn off the heat fan speed showing up, i couldn't find it in the settings. reason is because sometimes the car adjusts the fan/heat itself and everytime it adjust it pops up on the screen, and interferes while i may be using it, and also messes up the split screen if i have that active. and sometimes even after the heat is off it will randomly popup and gets annoying. i'm fine with it just not showing at all, would be good to have this option or maybe just a way to not have it show everytime, only when the actual knob is turned?

    2. for the reverse cam, is there a way to adjust the overlayed graphics. because the blue highlighted area that shows, would be good if we can adjust the opacity of that or something, i feel like sometimes in the dark/at night the blue highlighted box kind of makes it even harder to see when it overlays that part of the display.

    3. bluetooth audio player, how do we pair up a device? i cant see any option to add/pair a bluetooth player. and in the android bluetooth settings i wasn't able to detect my phone and my phone couldn't find the unit either.

otherwise it's awesome, already getting good use from it :)

I have some questions for anyone that's willing to answer them.

    New owner of:
    Audi A4 2014 (B8?) with concert.

I am definitely interested in the 10.25 unit.

My first question, I have already had this reverse cam unit installed from cargadgets:
    carsgadget.com/product-pages/2008-2016-audi-a4-a5-q5-allroad-kit

Would this kit be compatible with this 10.25 unit or would I have to remove it?
If so, can I still use the camera that came with the cargadgets kit for this unit?

Second question, I noticed some people say you need VAG COM to edit some settings in order to enable sound?
How can I verify if this is enabled already or not? In my media section of the stock console, there is no AUX, there is a round symbol that says empty though...
Would Carista be able to enable this option?
(I am trying to make sure I have all the right tools in place before I purchase.)

Third question, I read through this entire thread, are there any known problems with my specific model of vehicle and the 10.25 unit if anyone has any experience?

    few things:

    1. is there a way to turn off the heat fan speed showing up, i couldn't find it in the settings. reason is because sometimes the car adjusts the fan/heat itself and everytime it adjust it pops up on the screen, and interferes while i may be using it, and also messes up the split screen if i have that active. and sometimes even after the heat is off it will randomly popup and gets annoying. i'm fine with it just not showing at all, would be good to have this option or maybe just a way to not have it show everytime, only when the actual knob is turned?

    2. for the reverse cam, is there a way to adjust the overlayed graphics. because the blue highlighted area that shows, would be good if we can adjust the opacity of that or something, i feel like sometimes in the dark/at night the blue highlighted box kind of makes it even harder to see when it overlays that part of the display.

    3. bluetooth audio player, how do we pair up a device? i cant see any option to add/pair a bluetooth player. and in the android bluetooth settings i wasn't able to detect my phone and my phone couldn't find the unit either.

otherwise it's awesome, already getting good use from it :)
    1. I messed with this for a while and couldn't figure out a way to get the AudiWind service to die. That's the app that does the overlay as far as I can tell. Daniel is working on a fix for the overlay software though.

    2. The overlay for the reverse cam is controlled in the RealSun settings. There is no adjustment for opacity though..but you can turn it off.

    3. I have the same issue with BT, I can't get my phone (Google Pixel) to see my car or vice versa.

3/ I believe that bluetooth is currently disabled because of stability issues and that they're also working on it...

    Your car is considered a B8.5 since it's post-facelift.

If that camera kit has a standard composite video connector it will work.

If you don't have the AUX setting it's not enabled. I'm not sure if Carista has the coding in place to enable AUX. From the list on their website it doesn't seem so.

I thought I had read that on one of the threads but couldn't find it again. That would explain why it doesn't work though.

Ahhh the joys of having a pre-release product but then again we get to play with it before anyone else! pretty cool...

And I can confirm that aux can only be enabled through VCDS... no such option in carista, at least for now...

That's correct... You use either VCDS or Carista to enable the green menu where aux settings can then be amended...

    1. thanks. good to know the service name maybe i can try to find a way to disable it. i actually had to turn off my heat because it was getting very annoying, especially since you cant touch still it just holds up the screen until 1-2 seconds pass and it goes away. and then i'm trying to do something and it will pop right back up in a few more seconds. it got me more pissed than it should lol.

    2. yea i saw that but i do like the guidelines, i guess ill have to just get used to it, or maybe just turn off when i need.
    3. ah yea i do remember the BT issue, i thought it was more for connecting to a BT ODB reader, but i guess it applies to the media player part as well.

yea that would be nicer. as of now i havent looked around the settings enough, but would be good to have it like the tablets do with icons at the bottom. you can also look into some other launcher apps, like Go Launcher, Nova Launcher, or Car Launcher AG. they can provide a different and more customizable home screen and might be a better setup for while driving.

Ok, so this is my first post on this site though I have been reading the threads for a good while now. One of the main reasons I started trolling was the RSNAV unit. I spoke with Daniel as much as possible before ordering to make sure I was getting everything that I needed all in one shot! I pulled the trigger and received my package yesterday (Very professional as many people has already stated). I was going thru it and kinda had a few questions before I tear apart my vehicle and dive in only to find I am missing some parts. Hopefully the extensive knowledge that collaborates in the forum can help a guy out.

First I have a 2013 Audi A4 PP with the concert radio

    1. I have the media button that at this point controls my iPod in my glove box. I thought there was wire that would be replacing the one controlling my iPod? I don’t see any wires that would connect to this area. I did ask about this and Daniel almost acted like it was something extra he would have to send out unless I misunderstood.

    2. I am now seeing that people are having to do some reprogramming to get this to work using some VAGCOM which is something I know nothing about and hope this wont apply to me.

I know these questions might have already been answered and I did read back thru, but I was brain fried by the time I was done with all the different information and didn’t remember seeing anything no these topics.

    1. There should be no wires that take the place or interfere with the AMI cable that goes to the glove box.

    2. In order to get sound from the Android unit to your speakers you need to enable AUX as an input device. That's done by enabling the MMI green menu using a RossTech cable and VCDS and enabling AUX there. The instructions that came with the unit will tell you how to do that.

So basically I will also need to get this VCDS cable which is ultimately considered the the VAGCOM correct? I really wish I knew that before the purchase. I was under the impression it would just be connected thru the AMI cable.

Yeah or find someone who will let you rent their cable.

I'm on the same boat, I was gonna hold off a little bit longer to verify somethings.
If you browse through the CARISTA thread, supposedly the green menu can be accessed where the AUX option is at...but would want someone who's actually done it to clarify. Need to browse the thread more.

My other concern is the fitment issues that people are having, and having to sand down a specific part? I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to take the dremel to it, but like I said in my post, I just like to be sure that I have everything in place so there's no set back's when I'm actually installing.

That said, I'm going to purchase the Carista hardware (40.00 from amazon.) and supposedly you need to pay more for in-app stuff, which is way cheaper than the 200.00 VCDS/vagcom.
Beyond that, I guess I need Audi removal tools to remove the MMI/glovebox part for the installation process.

And thanks pabohoney1 for the information as I'm still fairly new to AUDI's and didn't know what I had exactly regarding the B8.5, and the other information.

I didn't have any fitment issues after I read this post You basically just have to clip plastic tabs off the back of the screen frame. That whole back piece then comes off. Everything fits correctly then.
