    Catch Can Questions

Are DSG and engine catch cans recommended for the RS3 for both stock and tuned or just tuned?

I see the benefit of an aftermarket DSG catch can like IROZ because of the stock design which can make a mess. But if not tuned, is it necessary? Or will the factory vent spill fluid even if stock if driven hard/launched on street?

For engine catch can in stock form no tune, it seems less necessary with direct injection. I also live in an area where it regularly drops below freezing in winter and assumed the vapor could freeze and cause issues with an engine catch can?

    My .02.

DSG stock or modifies. Needed. You will see first time you launch and it overtakes the factory system and fluid is all over your engine bay.

Engine ... only if stage 3 Just my thoughts.

Thank you for reply. Any recommended brands for DSG catch can? IROZ seems like a quality piece. Not sure about possibility of water entering the vent though if driving through rain or wash with its placement?

Curious about this same topic. 034 Motorsports offers a nice looking kit as well for $100 less. Based on browsing the forums the Iroz doesn't interfere with any of the big name aftermarket intakes, except maybe the massive Eventuri stage 3 intake. Looking at images alone the 034 unit looks smaller and doesn't appear to be an issue.

Anyone have experience with either option or others on the market that can chime in about quality, fitment, and clearance to aftermarket intakes?

Funny how threads like this show how every car is different. I've launched my car, stock, a handful of times with no overflow from the stock DSG breather. I thought about getting a DSG can but decided to hold off since I haven't had any issues. *knock on wood*

I'm in the same boat on the catch can topic at the moment and just can't convince myself to spend nearly 1k on the iroz cans , as awesome as they may seem I just dont think we need them especially if you aren't tuned or not pushing over 800hp. I'm in MD as well where we get freezing temps in the winter so that's another reason I guess but after doing some reading the chances of pipes bursting are also slim just have to make sure there aren't any dips on the hoses when installed or just uninstall ever winter which I'd rather not. If anything I've been looking at the CTS DSG catch can and it seems like the best bang for buck also like the location of it Screenshot_20200619-080904_Google.jpeg

Being in Maryland as well do you run any catch cans ? If so what kind and do you remove then for the winter months? Thanks

Went Iroz for looks. Any can will
Work that helps to catch that extra pressure.

My car has never puked up fluid, including during autocross and road course days.

I think what causes it is many launches in short succession.

Do not buy the CTS one. 2 guys I know on their RS3 have the same amount of squirt as with the stock one.
