Asterisk button on FB steering wheel, coming from a heated steering wheel.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Stock wheel came with the heated option. Replaced it with a FB steering wheel, which we all know does not have the heated option.
However i would like to use the programable button, but i cant find the option in MMI to change it.
Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

My guess is it will not be active in MMI until you change the coding in VCDS.

I remember you can change its function in the MMI menu but can't recall where in MMI. Mine is set to skip the track when the * button is presses.

Yes its possible in green hidden menu somewhere in the menu after car. you will see something with MFL. you have to check that and restart.

Car --> Carfunctionlist --> Check MFL Jokerfunction and uncheck MFL STD/PA

Ask someone with VCDS to activate hidden menu. Good luck bro!

hate to zombie bump, but I just did this on my 2016 s6 (mib2) and I'm having the same problem. Unfortunately, my green menu has none of that in it. I wonder if there are two green menus for the c7.5?
Slovenian tin exhaust, some worthless intake that isn't the SRM yet, cete valve controller because the akra one doesn't work properly on c7.5, apr stage 1 ecu/tcu, 5(five) bbs ci-r's because my car loves potholes, Eurocode sways/links, Eurocode alu-kreuz, and an undying love of hard parking

From my reading 7.5 owners don’t have the full hidden menu. But I sure wish I could program this button to do something useful like drive select or exhaust valves. The 4 options we have are all a waste of space.

From my research a while back, the RS performance controls are a pretty cheap plug n play replacement that gives you drive select on the steering wheel. I was headed down that path and then bit the bullet and did this....

in either case, I agree that having more functionality is a meaningful improvement over having to go to the MMI to change things.

Buttons work. But I was lazy and did not do this one myself — I paid the folks at TAG to handle it.

My understanding from others that have done it is that the wiring is not simple, but it is diy-able. In terms of getting the controls physically attached to the wheel, I believe the wheel has to be modified slightly to get them to fit flush.

That’s an R8+ wheel correct? They were able to get all those buttons to work on an S7? That’s impressive since it has to go through the clock spring. What does the turn knob under the drive select button do on your vehicle since that was only an option on the R8+. I haven’t looked into this but I guess maybe the euro spec RS7 had this which may make it easier to accomplish.

Something I've always wondered, is it possible to change my heated steering wheel button to skip tracks? I'd MUCH rather be able to skip tracks than use the heated wheel.

r8 controls mounted onto a regular s7 wheel. TAG was doing some alcantera work for me and they mentioned they could do this as a c7/7.5 guinea pig -- I am very happy they raised it as a potential option as I really like it. The little button on the bottom left below drive select turns ESC on/off. The bottom right is exhaust valves -- which I don't have hooked up because I've got AWE touring so no valves to turn on/off.

Is this not a MMI option if you have a heated wheel? Like someone mentioned in a prior post, I have my "*" button programmed to change tracks, but was not something I did using vcds. It was one of the 4 pre-programmed options within the MMI.

Good to hear it wasn't in VCD at least. I've been through the MMI settings several times and haven't come across a setting. Very well may be in the middle menu though, that's one thing I didn't turn on it VCD.

I doubt it would make the satellite controls function.

The R8/TTRS satellite controls are fairly unique in how they communicate with the car. The add-on performance controls that are seen in this thread that I do also sell as well consist of modified R8 satellite controls which communicate wirelessly to a supplied control box which then taps into the existing systems in the car directly. So far I only know of one project that is close to completion that actually is able to communicate with the genuine R8/TTRS satellite controls with other models like the C7, 8V, etc.

Just retrofitted the FB steering wheel on my 2014 A6 C7 TDI Prestige +... In the hidden green menu I enabled the Joker button and now have it showing in my MMI... but it is not functioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated
