Phil, you mean replace the switch blade key with the TT RS? I don't think anyone has done it. I'm also waiting for this.

$400 for a fob that you keep in your pocket? I may be missing the point on this but who really cares what the key fob looks like?

I also hate the key fob and feel that Audi should have done better but I refuse to pay $400 for something that should have been standard.

I place my order with Aoon last weekend. He estimates he will have my key fob by middle of this week. Based on Matt's experience with the shipping issue, I asked for a photo of the packaging to get a little piece of mind sooner than later. It is apparently going to have my VIN on the label. If I get a pic, I will post.

Out of curiosity.. did you order directly off him or does he have a company website?

I ordered directly from him. His story is he has made a few friends high up at Audi while building his 700 HP RS3. He also had R8 Carbon ceramics on his RS3. Apparently, somehow he is able to go around the normal process and order the key coded to the VIN from a different model.

dcb - Glad to see a fellow GTAer with an RS3!

Do you mind sharing contact info with me, so I can have a few done as well? Let's go for a cruise sometime!

No reservations in ordering directly off a individual person? By all means im not questioning the legitimacy of the guy (I've followed his key fob upgrade thread in the audiworld forums) but personally myself Id feel a lot better ordering off a website. Does he accept paypal? haha

I would only pay him through paypal. Paypal offers a pretty decent buyer protection. I opted to not send him a "Gift" but buy an item. If the item description doesn't match what shows up, I open an PayPal case and maybe get my money back in 4 months.

Yeah thats what I was thinking...the only way i would purchase something off someone individually online. Well hope it all works out and comes through as promised. He does seem to be quite well known on that forum though.

Is it me, or does one find a security issue with a normal guy not employed by Audi able to get you a key fob coded for your car???

I did have those concerns but once you get the keyfob you bring that along with the 2 blade keys to your dealer to be reprogrammed.

I am not an expert on the security of this process but wouldn't the reprogramming of all 3 keys remove any concerns?

Maybe some of the other members can offer input.

It's been over a year and my car is still with me!

Oh, that is different then, thought the security/programming was done by him, and not needed to go through dealer. I do now recall my car showing 2 keys programmed to the car, so it is the old dealer programming method still. I thought from back when I worked for an Audi dealership, some cars were factory programmed, IIRC, and when key ordered using VIN number, was all that was needed. Guess either my memory is shot, or they undid that feature.

The dealer was surprised that it work to be honest.

They said if I only brought in the new TTRS keyfob and had that programmed the other two would no longer work.

I was leery of the process as well but he seems just like us....really is into Audi's.

Anyone figure out how to set up the Audi TTRS key fob yet?

Iíve had mine for awhile. No issues. Aoon is a good guy and a big contributor to the ROW RS3 community. He offered two keys, the American TTRS key or the euro version without the ďpanic buttonĒ. I got the latter. More info in my build thread.

Edit: the only downside is the newly cut key blade is a different style and doesnít fit in our car.

If someone could PM me on how to get in touch with Aoon that would be great. Also just to clarify your factory 2 keys still function as well as the new TTRS key correct ?

Yes bring all three keys to your dealer so they can reprogram them at the same time. All three work except for the blade on the TTRS key fob.

Sent you a PM as well.

Nope, once you receive the key from Aoon you still need to take it to a dealer to be married to your car. You give up one of your original keys to marry the new key to the car.

Interesting, dealer told me marrying the new key would invalidate one of my spares but havenít tested.

Might have a spare key for that remote starter now!

All i could keep thinking about was a year or 2 down the road we read about 10+ Rs3 stolen, put on a cargo boat and disappear b/c we are all having these keys made that others in another Country have our same key with home address.
Also was thinking about having one done myself b/c whats another $400 right? Is that a tt-rs keyfob in your pocket or are you just really small with extra money to burn?
