ECU codes guide

I have a professional scanner on order. It has the ability of reading and clearing codes. It can also see running inputs and outputs from the different engine components.
But without knowing what I'm looking for is the issue. Is there a guide out there? ie: at idle you should see X volts output from the MAS....ect.
