and goddamn, the B9 cupholders are about as bad mk3 VW cupholders - some of the worst ever experienced.

I agree. I have a 20 oz Yeti I use for my morning joe and it’s a bit of a threading the needle to not hit anything. Not the best. Not sure why they weren’t placed closer to the gear lever.

Well, I'm entirely not sure that is 100% accurate. Without pointing to the RS6 Avant, they brought over. Not to mention the rumors about the B10 Chassis and the "Avant only" whispers.

how many A4 allroads do you see on the road? how many Q5's do you see on the road? 2022 A4 sales were 15,239 (includes all variations of the A4 chassis including S4 and allroad), while 2022 Q5 sales were 62,912 (includes all variations of the Q5 chassis). it's speculation of course, but we had wagons of the B8, B8.5, B9, and B9.5 chassis along with federalized engines from the S/RS models from those generations. sure people on an Audi forum WANT S4/RS4 wagons, but the vast majority of US customers don't care for them, plain and simple.

the B10 whispers aren't really whispers - the even numbers (A4, A6, A8) will be EV's and odd numbers (A3, A5, A7) will be ICE powered. so all body variations that exist under each chassis will exist as either EV or ICE. again, in the US we likely won't get any of the actual wagons, and settle for sportbacks like the current A5/A7.
