FreedomPop SIM Friend Network Check In

We recently picked up a 99c FreedomPop SIM to get basic AT&T 3G data in our 2014 A4 MMI 3G+ for free (200MB base per month), and so far, have been pleased with the service (it's hard to beat free and works well for what it does).

This thread is to offer a check-in of sorts for an Audizine FreedomPop friend network: adding a FreedomPop friend gets us both another 50MB of free 3G/LTE data (up to 500MB) per month.

Check-in to the thread if you have an active FreedomPop account and are looking to expand your FreedomPop friend network for more free 3G data per month -- post your FreedomPop e-mail address or send PMs, as you wish. Tell us how you're using your FreedomPop SIM (year / model), too.

Update 7 Jul 2020:
The current data bonus for each "friend" is 5 MB, up to a maximum of 50 MB of free bonus data. You can have more than 10 FP friends linked to your account; while they don't get you more free bonus data, they can help keep your free bonus data at 50 MB if some of your FP friends let their accounts go in-active.

I added everyone in this thread. So will I get 50MB per friend every month, or is it just a one-time thing? If I add one friend, do I get 250MB total this month, and then back to 200MB next month, or do I get the 250MB forever?

I got my SIM fairly quickly and install/setup was a breeze! It's been 2 weeks now and everything working great!

I sent some PM's to a few people that have posted their info in this thread but not responded to the friend message on FreedomPop. Just trying to keep things going for this thread to help build the network. Don't forget to subscribe for updates when others add their info to the thread.

Another point: you need to log into your FP account occasionally to either send or accept new FP Friend requests. If you haven't checked your FP account lately, you may find pending requests there (and another 50MB of free data for each, up to 500MB total for the free data-only plan).

I'm connected with about 10 people but I seem to max out at 200mb of friend data. This could be due to people having inactive accounts. I know when I checked today I was inactive again.

Bumping the thread here with a quick update: it appears that FreedomPop changed the terms/conditions on their FreedomPop Friends bonus in July 2018. Active Friends now contribute only 5 MB each of free data, with a maximum of 50 MB bonus each month. The free LTE data-only SIM, then, now has a maximum of only 250 MB (down from a very generous 700 MB previously). I think this is still mostly sufficient for the Google Earth overlay on one or two longer trips outside our home area & the occasional on-line destination search (which use very little data compared with Google Earth images).

@pstonge: Your MY2013 MMI likely has the older T-Mobile only data modem, which means you're limited to hit-or-miss 3G from T-Mobile. What does the Online Status Overview screen say when you have the FP SIM in ?

@36dbldz: What model year is your A7 ? Most US MMIs got the AT&T-compatible 3G data modem in MY2014. The forums have quite a bit of info on this.

I'm now active on a paid $45/annual plan (1GB per month). My free sim was registered to a SF address and was going to incur a $3.49/month line tax in SF...

My first drive around the bay area pulled 65mb...i didnt want to deal with top ups and such so I just got the prepaid and won't have to think about it again for another year.

however, i should still be able to help you guys get extra data.
