FP gives you 5MB for each friend in your network, up to a max of 50MB (used to be 500MB until last summer).
Most of the check-ins in this thread are still active, so invite them to your network using the posted e-mail addresses (my FP e-mail address is in the first post).
If you have more than 10, the max is still 50MB, but if anyone goes inactive, the additional active accounts make up the difference.

Bumping the thread, just in case anyone is still interested in using FreedomPop for (free/low-cost) 3G data while AT&T is still providing the service. Also, Google Earth is supposed to go away soon for old-school MMI hardware like ours.

I think this has already happened for me. For about 2 weeks now, Google Earth won't load and says there "isn't enough data available" for Google Earth and defaults to the standard map.

That's odd. I had our 3G+ MMI out for a drive last week, and Google Earth loaded just fine. Are you sure you're still getting full 3G ? According to this: https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1324171

the AT&T 3G decommission will be complete by Feb 2022.

I haven't seen this yet. I stopped using FP sim in August 2019 and switched to data only SIM on my Google Fi account. Just switched off Google Fi on Monday so looking to switch back to FP. As of Monday when my SIM was still active my Google Earth was working.

That's interesting that GE was working in your '14 S4 as late as Monday. For most of us, GE stopped working mid-December (I just tried to enable GE in our '14 A4Q MMI 3G+, and it failed with the message shown above). At this point, the free 200 MB FP LTE Data SIM is a curiosity. It can still be useful, (1) as long as FP supports their Basic 200 GSM plan and (2) AT&T continues to offer 3G service in your area.

I installed the "update" offered by @audimib on the A4 Classifieds forum today, and it appears to work as advertised (at least with the car parked in the garage). I'll know more about how it performs when we're out-and-about in the next few days...

While the Basic 200 GSM may not be available for new accounts, FP just renewed my plan for another month with 200 MB + 35 MB of "friends" bonus data. If you still have a FP SIM in your Audi MMIs, keep it active by (1) using at least 5+ MB data monthly and (2) checking your account status at my.freedompop.com once-in-a-while, just in case.

The free Basic 200 GSM plan my MMI 3G+ SIM has was migrated to a paid ($4 a month) Essential LTE 350MB plan on 12 May 2021. It was auto-renewed on 12 Jun 2021, and data from six "FP Friends" was included (380 MB total). I see that the my.freedompop.com site still lets us manage FP Friends (for a max of 50 MB "bonus" data), which I find curious. I wonder if the FP Friend bonus is available to anyone using their newer SIMs and "Freemium" plan (which includes only 25 MB of data per month).

So far, Google is still provisioning Google Earth overlay imagery for legacy Audi clients, and AT&T still has 3G service for our (ancient) MMI 3G+ systems, but not for too much longer. Still the best value for getting data to our almost obsolete MMI 3G+ systems.

If I'm out $5, oh well, but it seems like I should be showing at least some kind of 2G or maybe 3G signal reception. Both T-Mobile and ATT have great signal where I'm at, so I'm not sure what to think.

Your '17 A8 should still have MMI3G Plus, so the integrated data modem only supports AT&T 3G, which was turned off in March '22. You can still use your Freedompop SIM to provision LTE data (not much, as I recall), but the internal data modem is obsolete for this purpose. I wrote about this HERE, but Google Drive keeps messing with the API for sharing image files, so I need to edit the post to include embedded images. That seems like it's more invasive than I was hoping for. The USB stick plugged in through the MMI cable wouldn't be bad, but anything more than that and retrofitting a AA/carplay unit would be what I end doing, it wasn't bad to do on my 08 S8.

That's the same setup I put into my D3 (MMI2) just before the DSP variant came out, other than an occasional, non-repeatable hangup every once in a while, I really haven't had an issue with it.
