Okay, so we got screwed with that. Oh well. Thanks for the confirmation. I can also confirm there's no way to enable VIM while driving on 7.5 cars. I tried but the security code threw an error, and a master tech over VCDS said it cannot be enabled via VCDS on VW-group cars anymore (makes sense in this litigious country

). In addition to that, tried to make changes on modules A9 (Soundaktor) and 53 (Parking brake), and everything seemed to be working perfectly, but right after the last window asking if I was sure of the changes, another window popped up with this message:
"
This appears to be an uninitialized module; valid WSC/Importer/Equipment data may be required.
Click [yes] for VCDS to use default values of 12345/123/12345.
Click [no] for VCDS to try the values currently in the module
Click [cancel] to go back and manually edit the values."
Didn't want to risk an issue, so cllicked 'cancel', and left everything unchanged. Has anybody with a 7.5 seen this, and what did you do about it? I'm afraid to try 'yes' for fear of messing something unless somebody has done it before successfully. The weird thing is the parking brake module accepted the security code and everything. Both modules are obviously initialized, since they're working fine. Seems like we 7.5 owners are severely limited by these kinds of changes. Wished I had known this, and probably wouldn't have spent the $200 to buy the cable (and the OBD11 instead), but at least I was able to do some changes. Bought the more expensive cable because it was supposedly superior to OBD11, but I really doubt it now, at least for my use. Oh well.
Now to some changes I wanted to make that bumped into them by accident, in case somebody else is interested too: Deactivated the auto door lock and unlock on module 46 (central convenience), coding 07, long coding helper, byte 5, by unchecking bits 4 (
auto-lock active) and 5 (
auto-unlock active). I also unchecked bit 3 (
trunk lock (at stop light) active), but don't know exactly what that means. Anybody? Finally, while activating the lap timer, deactivated '
engine start note (put foot on brake before starting)', in case somebody wants that too. Also found byte 9, bit 7 '
key warning active': what is it? Is it when you leave the car with the key on you (I want that on), or when you turn ignition on, and the stupid bong sounds for a while before shutting up? I'd like that deactivated for sure. Oh, also found this one on instruments (17), byte 10, bit 0 '
brake pad warning active', and it was unchecked. What does that mean? That it won't light up when triggered? Or that it's simply not triggered right now? And one last question about cruise control also on the instruments module (17), byte 1, bit 5 '
cruise control system installed', which is unchecked on my car. I have the adaptive one, but was bummed when I don't have the choice to have the regular one. Do any of you think if I click that bit if I could use both? On my other car, if I hold the distance button for a second when cruise is on but not active, it switches from ACC to CC. Maybe it's not possible, but just throwing this out there. Also saw 'lane assist installed' unchecked, but 'active lane assist installed' checked, which in that case is obvioulsy one or the other. But don't know if with CC is the same thing on this car.
Finally, messed with module 5F to try to clear my SIM issue, but only found this 'channel' from the tons of options: '
IDE 10668 - Internal SIM card: use'. It was 'never', and switched to 'auto'. The other option was 'always'. After resetting the MMI I went thru several windows on AudiConnect, with the warnings and such, so was hopeful, but it ended up with the same blue window that said 'Please insert SIM card', so back to square 1. Didn't see any other channel with SIM in there, but will try to go thru it without connecting to the car. I don't think changing to 'always' would change anything, but all comments welcome. Thanks gang.
EDIT: Forgot to mention my experience with the deactivation of US side markers. Tried the rear first, which is the single LED on the side of the tails, according to me, but apprently not. Or something changed. Both were set to the deactivated values of 0 and 32, but both are on at night. Hmmm. Oh well. Or is there a way to turn them off? If yes, please post how. The front ones were deactivated, however, which are the ugliest, so not that bad. He he. By the way, the car is perfectly visible from the side without them on (crappy law)... plus the reflectors are, well, reflective

. As a side comment, the instructions are quite different on my 7.5 than listed, but ended up figuring everything out when not getting errors. I made several other changes I found, so will go in detail with each module over time out of curiosity, to see what can be changed. Unfortunately, Audi made it a lot harder with the new modules, but at least some things are still decipherable. Need a service manual badly; need to research where to buy it. Take care.
