Just checking in after my wife and I became Audi owners Saturday for the first time.
The time had come (according to my wife and kids) to say goodbye to my daily driver, a 2004 RAV4 with 177,000 miles. I kept promising I would get a new car as soon as something broke on the RAV4, but nothing would ever break on that Toyota. So they all had enough and pushed the issue for me.
We looked at all the smaller SUVs from all the major companies, and then eventually headed to the Audi dealer to look at the new Q5. But my wife actually did not like the new virtual dashboard. The sales manager then mentioned he had a leftover, but new, 17 SQ5 they really wanted to move. We went for a test drive and both knew that was it.
As I am reading stuff now I think our SQ5 is pretty loaded . . . its white with the black optics package, 21 inch wheels, red brake calipers, supercharged badges, the technology package, carbon atlas inlays, nappa leather with gray diamond stitching, and the protection package with the all weather mats.
I think we got a fair deal, as the vehicle listed for $61,775 and we got it for $51,075. We got $750 off for owning a BMW and $2250 off for financing with Audi. The dealer then discounted a bit over $7000 more. We also then got $3300 for the Toyota (which I think I might have been able to sell privately for $4500). Also noticed the window sticker started at about $64k but Audi had an $850 technology credit and a $1450 premium equipment credit.
We have owned over 30 cars, many of those "luxury" brands, and this interior is probably the nicest of them all. Also pretty surprised with the power in this SUV (and I also own a Corvette).
I was keeping the Toyota because I really didn't need to make a change just to go to work. It was the car my kids learned to drive on, that I let them take to college, and that we drive our Great Dane around in. But I knew the time had come to get something new. I think I'm going to be very happy with this beautiful SQ5.
