Just wondering why Audi cannot update 2016 models, when ford can

I would gladly pay for such an upgrade. Even if it meant buying an entirely new head unit. Obviously I'd prefer to pay the least possible but there may be technical restrictions in our head units. The processor itself seems like it would be too slow to process Android Auto.

I posted specifically because the 2016 and 2017 S6 use the same MIB-2 with Tegra 3 quad core processor

From what I have been able to find there is no technical difference from a hardware standpoint.

Just so everyone is aware as of right now there is no new additional information or updates to share on this topic. My predecessor was able to share the feedback with our product support teams who communicate with Germany on a regular basis so it is in the right hands.

Considering the difficultly I am having just getting the latest version of MMI software on my car to fix some bugs, I would be surprised if Audi was interested in updating older models with new features.

Car makers should take a lesson from Apple and design their hardware and software so that they can develop updates which are compatible with cars up to 6 years old. As your car gets older it would no longer be able to take advantage of all of the new features but you would still get navigation updates and some new features over a reasonable life span. I think this approach would make owners more loyal to the brand. The problem with this approach is that the marketing types have to agree that this is good for them in the long term. I think that now they think that withholding features shortens the upgrade cycle forcing people to purchase new cars to get new features. Personally I think that Apple’s growth proves them wrong, loyal customers and good products are what make money.

My A3 Cabrio is already worth less than I owe on it. Pretty certain I’ll never throw money away on an Audi again.

Really? The best policy is to be straight up. If there are no plans to do it, then pass on that information. It is a business decision. As consumers, we can base our future buying decisions on our assessment of whether we think the business decisions taken by our preferred supplier are aligned with our idea of partnership and value.

As a new 2015 Audi S3 owner CPO w/17000 miles on it I must say I bought this car for the performance.

It is the P+ with BO sound system with non-navigation.

The only thing I can complain about is the absence of a updated MMI.

My 13 Altima has a more adaptive MMI (CarPlay) then my Audi...

I wish I could use my IPhone in my Audi with a CarPlay feature, I can’t even view my messages or be notified of messages when connected to the car.

I know this is a ongoing complaint ....

I have even considered the cost of buying a used system out of a newer Audi to swap into mine so I can atleast have the Audi Connect and message function...

Hi. New to forum, and this topic caught my eye as I just bought a CPO 2016 S3 and CarPlay is what I miss most. I was able to put it in my 2003 A4 that I had for years. Would really like to have it again as it’s voice control is much more streamlined, easier to use, and I’d even say safer to use because it requires less steps than Audi’s voice control. Please help, Audi. Thank you.

My other complaint is that my MMI version won’t allow me to view my messages on the screen. This really should just be a software upgrade ...... I love my S3 but the cost isn’t commensurate with tech advancements.

The maps run $285 and require a trip to the dealership (+$200) for a total outlay of about $500 every 6 months (if you wanted the latest and greatest)

You can try boxes from China (don't recommend) or do what I did...

There is a posting on the C7 forum where you can flash a different firmware to the car and get it activated that way.. total outlay for me was $150

I don’t know.. the C7.5 I think was one of the first to have USB and LTE modem in the car.. MIB 2 Platform?

All I know for sure is 2016 A6 and A7 family of cars can get upgraded

I agree... Come on AoA ... my mom has a Hyundai Sonata and they issued an update for CarPlay on the car, free of charge that I was able to do for her at home.

I understand that everyone is different, but this shouldn't be an issue when so many of the Audis with MMI already have CarPlay.

Update would be great! Would it help if we all start barraging Audi Customer Service with calls? I am sure a lot of people would call! haha.
