History of a "Company Vehicle"

Hi,

I’m in the process of purchasing a 2018 S4 whose window sticker has a notation on it reading “Company Vehicle - Not For Retail Sale”. I am hoping Audi USA can give me some information as a result.

What does this label on the window sticker mean? Was it an employee car? If so, at which dealership? Could I contact the dealership to enquire? The VIN number is WAUB4AF4XJA200194. Here’s the window sticker.

This is actually a great question and one that the answer is not necessarily automatically available, especially if you're interested in purchasing a vehicle of this caliber. Generally speaking this occurs in two situations, one where the vehicle is driven by an Audi of America employee as a company car or it is used as a loaner vehicle by the dealership for a short period of time. There are also instances that I've seen with vehicles marked with this designation used for car magazines or for car shows before being potentially re-sold. Based on the VIN, it does appear that this particular model was used as a company car by an AoA employee. I would check in with Audi Chantilly if I were you to see if you can gain any additional insight as that it was where the car was originally delivered. You can call AoA customer service and they maybe able to tell you if it was used at corporate or a dealer. If a dealer, I doubt AoA would know how the dealer used the vehicle. You could then contact the dealer and see if they have a record of the use. I bought a corporate 2017 A4, and already knew what dealer had it. I contacted them and they told me it was used by the assistant finance guy.
