Map update

Why is it so costly to get a map update on my 2013 Audi S6? Most other vehicles I have owned is a CD and "do it yourself" instructions and a quarter of the cost. I won't name pricing here, but the cost of the material/part is the 4 times the labor. My MMI currently gets me to run off the road! This reminds of the office episode where the navigation told them to drive into a lake. haha.

I Audi 2016 Q5 with latest firmware. Need to update maps . Please let me know if you can share latest maps. I have limited data plan Audi Connect so want to update manually,.

Definitely NOT covered by Audi Care! I have Audi Care and got the maps updated on my A8 a while back. It's a double-whammy because, first you pay about $250 for the disc and then an hour of labor. There's no *good* reason, that I know about, why maps can't be updated by the end user. Yet another nickle-and-dime chicken-shit move by Audi IMO. There are 3rd parties that sell Audi map updates but, from what I've read, that could brick the MMI!

Actually, as a matter of fact -- since I was reminded, Audi installed the map update on my A8 but the car is throwing a code over the software update! You can only see the code in VCDS (not OBDII and no CEL) but I got VCDS last week and just found that out! You'd think that Audi would at least do it right!
