I replaced the pump. The old pump also looked fine, so it's a mystery

    I call BS!

The gen 5 Haldex is totally separate from the rest of the rear diff.

    #8

The haldex can be completly removed from the rear diff. Its "sealed" off from the rear diff! Uses a totally different oil!

The haldex motor will not explode... It will shut off via the controller.

The haldex motor sit "outside" the haldex!

Did you hear the pump running? Did you have your hood open? The adaptation didn't work for me until I had the hood up

Hey guys, I am having issues now with my AWD. I have a 2016 Audi S3 and after doing a launch, the car right from the beginning of the launch, started to make a very loud banging sound/noise in the rear.

When scanning the car with VCDS, I get the C111307 code.

I have checked the CV joints and they are good. When I disable the haldex using the burnout box, the banging noise is almost gone!

I recorded the below videos for reference:

    https://youtube.com/shorts/c9e31_SN5qY
    https://youtube.com/shorts/JSvbFQVhU4w
    https://youtube.com/shorts/-g4SYpjJXfU

Are clutches able to make this sound when they are broken?
Do I need a new diff?

Whats key is stop abusing the haldex until its fixed...unless you feel like wasting money.
I googled the code and I am currently waiting for the diff and haldex oil to be delivered so I can change that and test again.

The main reason that I asked here was to check if anyone had this before since I didn't find anyone with the same banging noise in the rear like I am having.

This sound is permanent unless I disable the haldex like I mentioned in my first post.

    Here's some food for thought:

From my first post: "I have a 2016 Audi S3 and after doing a launch....."

The car is stage3 (Vortex XL) on e85

So Stage 3...how many HP over stock?

According to Iroz the "stock" haldex only holds 240nm...

Just to update this thread - I replaced the Haldex pump and clutch pack before I realized the bevel box was toast. Replaced that with a used unit today, AWD works great now! Check the bevel box first!

Thanks for the information. I just bought a used diff and will wait until I get it to change it, I believe my issue is with the rear diff since I have a very noticeable banging noise when I drive the car.

ANY TIME YOU SERVICE OR DISCONNECT THE TRASMISSION OR TRANSMISSION FLUID IN ANY WAY YOU MUST PRIME THE HALDEX*MP 2-3 TIMES. THIS IS 99% OF THIS THREADS FIX OTHER THAN THOSE WITH PHYSICAL MECHANICAL FAILURES.

ALSO ENSURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING THE PROPER LAUNCH CONTROL METHOD.

    1) YOU MUST BE IN ANY MODE OTHER THAN DYNAMIC

    2) HOLD "ESC OFF" BUTTON FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO TURN IT FULLY OFF

    3) SWITCH TO DYNAMIC MODE

    4) HOLD BRAKE AND THROTTLE TO LAUNCH

If you launch switch to dynamic first, or are already in dynamic when turning off the esc/esp fully, you will spin and technically you have not engaged "launch control"

TL;DR Make sure your HALDEX* pump is primed & launch correctly

The issues they are talking about in this thread is with the haldex pump, not the dsg pump

Exactly. Something is broken inside my rear diff for sure, I will tear it down when I get the used one that I bought to find out what’s happening in there

Hey I saw your post in the email but I guess it was removed? Anyways, I bought an used rear diff already so I will let you know when I install it if the issue is gone or if I still need to spend more cash lol

This post is confusing as fuck!

ANY TIME YOU SERVICE OR DISCONNECT THE TRASMISSION OR TRANSMISSION FLUID IN ANY WAY YOU MUST PRIME THE HALDEX

Whats the transmission have to do with the Haldex? DSG is up front connected to the engine...Haldex in the rear connected to the rear diff...

Haldex has its own separate electronic controller...

YOU MUST PRIME THE HALDEX*MP 2-3 TIMES Never heard this...

The Haldex pump only needs to be primed if it was changed...removed or have an issue with it...

THIS IS 99% OF THIS THREADS FIX OTHER THAN THOSE WITH PHYSICAL MECHANICAL FAILURES

So cycling the electrics/electronic(haldex pump) fixs other than mechanical failures...Amazing!
