I've had a number of things happen the last few days. I've managed to: map out most of the wiring for a 4.2 swap after spending 3 days looking at wiring diagrams and comparing them. Picking up a full motor and everything needed around early June.

I've also managed to roll up the mileage on the Allroad with some very impressive numbers. I've managed to stretch the tank to 530km by 3/4. If I didn't drive like an idiot or have a 100km of stop and go city driving, I think it could be done better.

I got these EGT boards from the guy in Poland. Perhaps I'll be putting them in sometime soon, or if the EGTs throw more codes.

Rear suspension is also in! I gotta get the bushings for the upper and lower control arms that connect to the spindle, as well as all new bolts.

Besides the dust, these arms are OEM fresh. I don't really want to install them now lol

This has been the source of some clicking noises when closing the hatch. I've tried tightening this up, but to no avail. The Allroad in the junk yard showed no real way to fix this. What are my options?

Washed the engine bay clean of most of the dirt and trash.

Some days since the last update; I noticed my "Allroad" badge was hysterically crooked.

Swapped out my old radio with an inoperable tape deck with one out of another C5. Also got my steel ball seat lugs and have since replaced the summers I had with the blue tuner lugs for the stock set of wheels.

Rolled up to the shop to find another allroad get 3/4 bags replaced and a Jerry rigged air line repaired for leak free operation.

Then set about doing my clutch switch to kill any driveability issues I've been having. Drop the knee bolster and it's right there

    Literally(white plug)

Pulled it out and found it rather short

Installed the new one and called it a day. Also talked to the shop about my 4.2 S6 swap I've planned for September, and they don't want to do it. They recommend beefing up the 2.7T with some turbos and supporting mods then call it a day, or upgrade to an RS6 (which I've found stupid cheap with low mileage), and 6spd swap it when the tranny dies. Everyone and their great grandmother has built a 2.7T, but who does it to a 4.2? As much as I like it, it's getting old.

Also went to go look at a potential summer car today. 1997 UrS6

Asked the guy if it was stock once I opened the hood, and he said it was a stock turbo. Never have I ever seen a stock turbo look like that.

Got a chance to run the dyno today. Pretty disappointed with the end result.

110whp and 155wtq. Limp mode obviously, but I have no idea why.

Went out and logged it afterwards and hit 35psi in 1-2 but gears 3-6 are 4psi.

I want to fix it, but I also got that S6 4.2 to put in lol. Any ideas on what's going on?

AR and headlights look good! Did you just wet sand them down in 3 or 4 steps and just seal them afterwards? Just asking because i need to do that on my 03 RS6 and i'm a little worried about messing up my headlights! Looking good so

I did it in multiple steps:

-400 cuts the fastest and where you should aim to get rid of most of the oxidization
    -600
    -1000
    -1200
    -1500

I didn't seal them (still haven't) but they still look good from afar. Some oxidization is starting to come back.

I'll do it in September while the lights are off the car to do a better job, and maybe get some new rubber trim for them.

Are there any codes present after it goes into limp mode? It sounds like an under boost issue since it's happening in higher gears or your turbos can not keep up with the requested boost. Also 35psi is before atmospheric pressure is subtracted so that's around 20psi. Your long term fuel trims are showing a slight rich condition that could be pointing to a boost leak.

Strange, I thought I responded to this, but apparently not. Here's the saved post:
I've used this program before in my S4, and it read boost properly so that gauge reads "Boost Actual"

A local tuner said that if I'm seeing that kind of boost in 1-2 and it going limp 4psi in all other gears, it may more than likely be a torn wastegate line. <-- since this, and the research I've done, it's more than likely a wastegate line, but I gotta boost leak test the lines to be sure.

Shouldn't be too hard to do right? Drop the sway bar and remove either motor mount and TIP to get to the wastegate lines in the Allroad.

In other news, the lady and I are going to be pitching in 50/50 for a brand new radio.

Just put in the order here from Enfig:

Hopefully I'll see it Friday and can put this radio in. Pioneer AVH-X2800BS

Should also be taking delivery of my S6 V8 this month as well, schedule dictating of course. Excited to get it and see how healthy this high km unit is; starting with a compression check and then a leakdown. If it checks out to some specs I found (B6 S4 4.2) then I'll run it as is.

If compression is low, I'll get the heads refreshed along with 1.8T exhaust valves for my boost plans later down the road.

If the leakdown doesn't check out, then I'll buy rings and do it like the Porsche guys do with their DIY hone jobs and such. Obviously the heads will be done at the same time, as well as all seals, rod/crank bearings, oil pump and tensioners.

Debating forged pistons, but those are a lot of money and they'd need to be coated for the Alusil block. S6 bottom end should suffice since its already beefier than AN A6 4.2.

Pic of the donor. I should be getting everything including trim pieces and the air box. Not ABS or any of that other stuff that doesn't pertain to the motor

Not an RS6 swap, but an NA BBD S6 swap in September. Depending on condition of the motor, I'll either plop it in and run it NA for a bit then shove a turbo on it, or rebuild it to handle boost and throw it in with a turbo right away

Got all the stuff in from Enfig the other day. This would include:

-Pioneer radio plug and play kit
-Their own proprietary kit to eliminate the low sound from the back of the car
    -Radio cage and bezel
    -Steering wheel control wire

And what the end product should be like

Spent 2 hrs trying to finangle it into position within the dash. Install was pretty easy once I followed the Enfig install video.

    Here's the finished product

When installing it, I must have accidentally removed the Steering wheel control wire from the radio, but now that it's in there I have no idea how to remove it. I'll live with it for now.

Ran me about $600 all said and done. The radio was half that and all the plug and play Enfig stuff was the other $300.

It's all the stock Bose stuff for now. I do have a separate Infinity sound system with a self powered sub that I had saved for my S4, but never got around to installing. I might just throw all that into the Allroad at some point. The sub will definitely be put in sooner than everything else.

I'm definitely happy with what I got. No more mucking around with the stock radio or cassette adapters for playing my own music. The audio is much more lively than the stock system, and being able to choose how you want to hear the sound (front/front left/front right/rear/all) as well as some great EQ settings makes it worthwhile.

Definitely want to fix the Steering wheel controls because using the provided remote with the radio is getting troublesome haha

There should be a sirius/xm module you can unplug and plug into the new radio. Shouldn't be a hassle.

I'm a bit of an Allroad amateur. I noticed that your wheel fairings and bumpers are matching color. Was that a factory option? How can this be achieved? Can you paint them? Or maybe some cheap ebay parts? I also have a silver Allroad but the trim is that matte gray/black.

Hopefully I don't end up selling the car like the last 2. Each one got a BBK and was sold in a year lol

I've been gone a while but now I'm back. Still waiting on the motor and everything to be delivered, but I've managed to negotiate many more things from the car I'll be getting the motor from.

    Things I'll be grabbing:
    -S6 Motor (complete)
    -18z BBK
-an upgraded set of rear brakes (unknown if they're OEM S6 or another model)

And potentially the clutch/flywheel off the car if it's confirmed it's a B7 RS4 clutch and TTV flywheel.

I've got in the rest of the suspension and I'm trying to work out a deal to get some Arnott Gen 2 air springs to replace the old OEM stuff. I'll then be modifying the OEM stuff to try and accept larger air lines so I can switch over to manual air management.

My other option would be to add a compressor to the current tank to aid the old and dying stock one, just to keep the air tank filled at all times.

Cool thread to read thru. Allroad noob here. Seems like this will be a nice addiction for me.

    Another long time no update:

Been ordering a TON of stuff in preparation for the swap, but I'm still waiting on the donor car to be ripped apart.

However, I can now do other things:

    I bought a 2003 Suzuki GS500

Ad pics, but doesn't need too much to be road worthy:

    -Rear tire
    -Battery
    -Chain
    -Spark plugs
    -Oil change

The bike sat for 2 years so I'll have to drain the old gas and try to clean it up. Might rebuild the carbs or even give the jets a quick clean. The chain is also kinked and has more play than a granny's breasts blowing in the breeze.

Wanna get that all sorted and riding while the car is being swapped so I'm still mobile.

And the sweet sport shifter has shipped!

My driver window regulator bit the dust a couple days ago, so I went around and replaced it from a buddies partout car - Allroad central

The workspace at my pops place

    Old

Cable ended up snapping, which I am to understand is rare

    New regulator/window frame

    Minty looking cable

Inside of my door. Looks like it was dust checked at some point, and it's obviously helping

    Little bit of rust

Also picked up a new switch and went to work replacing it.

    Old and new comparison

Oof. That old switch. Soft touch plastic is the bane of my existence.

The new one looks minty! You spring for a brand new one? Or did you get lucky?

Girlfriend surprised me with the switch actually. Idno where it's from, but I'd guess from China lol

It's the same to me and actually looks of better build quality than the original. Time will tell though

I got this in from my contact in the US:

-Vaiair 444cc Dual air compressor kit
    -034 Track density trans mounts
    -ECS tuning billet motor mounts
-8x rear spindle bushings for upper/lower control arms
    -OEM rear hardware kit.

I'll get pictures of everything eventually, bit it's starting to come together for the V8 swap.

You may be curious about what I'm doing with the compressors, and I'll lay it out. I'm breaking this up into 2 stages.

    Stage 1:
Hook up one or both compressors to keep the OEM tank filled to 165-200 PSI, And keep it filled so the stock compressor barely ever has to run, since the tank is always full. All suspension adjustments from then on should use whatever supply is in the tank.

    Stage 2:
Replace the air lines with 1/4 or 3/8 air lines and then drill+tap the OEM bags to accept NPT fittings. This stage also includes converting over to manual air management with a dual needle air gauge to measure front and rear air pressures. That way I can set the car to x-psi and get it aligned at that height for driving.

I will be running the front and rear with a T connection between each bag. I won't be running 4 individual manual valves because that's a lot of work and I'd rather do it that way if I could convert to digital for more precision, but we all know it's $$$$ lol

If anyone can find an adapter that converts from the OEM BSPP to NPT, that would be great because the research I've done has been inconclusive for right answers on the OEM thread and fitting size. Closest I got was a thread from user CHRISTOPHÉ, but he encountered major reliability issues with his air lines.

    Here's the pictures as promised:

    All out of the box

ECS-Tuning motor mounts. My second set since the ones I bought for my S4. Absolutely love these as they only vibrate at idle but are rock solid off idle.

034 Track density transmission mounts. Also very solid feel and little to no NVH from the car (in my experience)

Upper/lower rear outer bushings for the control arms. 8 of these suckers for the rear end

    On to the big boys

    Packaged away

These things are heavy and I've got no idea where to mount them lol

Does anyone know the maximum pressure range of the OEM tank? These are set to 200psi, which I believe is safe for the stock tank since the system is a 235psi system.

Gotta figure out plumbing and how to wire it through the instructions and it should be good to go.

I went for 2 hr drive to look at something pretty interesting today. Talked with the owner for 2 hrs and went for a ride. You all can try and figure out what I went to look at:

Real clean 03 RS6 with a 6spd. Saw it pop up a few weeks ago and didn't contact the owner until now. I haven't had a smile on my face that big since selling the S4. What a machine

Awesome, I saw this on Kijiji too. Would be awesome to see it go to an enthusiast!

RS6 is definitely my next C5, oh the sound and torque of the V8's is glorious!
